Hey Lumion, congratulations on the release of Lumion 12! If I may suggest, I think you guys should invest into raytracing, it's the future of high quality indoor renders.

Lumion is a game-changer from the very beginning. It's great to see these improvements. But to be honest, I was waiting for something more... Like ray-tracing for non-planar surfaces or the wire-frame view mode for achieving better performance when building the scene. Still great work though, Lumion is getting more and more flawless with each version.

I was not going to upgrade to manage my money for the Thanksgiving and Christmas season and wait until after holidays, but after seeing the volumetric light feature and ability to scroll through objects, I decided to just go ahead and do it and after doing my first rendering with it today, I am really glad I did. The lighting is going to really make my night renders so much better, the scrolling through objects is really nice and helped me get through it faster, there is some really nice new plant material that is really important for my models, and there are just so many subtle changes that I noticed that reviewers aren't even picking up that have made this a better update than I originally thought.

@@MrChipMC You write about Volumetric Spotlight, which are also very limited. You cannot assign different settings to the different lights in the scene. All lights must have the same settings. Yes, sometimes it will be okay, but this is another limitation. In my opinion, the Lumion needs a fresh look and I hope it does.

More tools and valuable updates (adding gloss/reflection materials map was a good improvement), but the render engine is outdated. Realtime Raytracing should be a priority. Otherwise, we still need to do a lot of workarounds to get a realistic render.

Lotta people asking for raytracing, lumion team knows how much that option would be a game changer, but i do not think its an easy addition without having to flip the software upside down if not rearrange it from scratches... I have a feeling it'll be available around lumion 20 lol

the whole point of lumion and similiar renders was ease of use and fast renderings. seems like people forget what real raytraced rendering via cpus looks like and how long does it take. yes, with new zillion core cpus and gpus this is changed a bit, bu still things like real engine etc uses some tricks, it's not 100% raytraced calculated render, which sill take a lot longer.

@@izoyt yeah but still people can use partially raytracing and wait little longer to render so they can have more realistic animation or render. I think rendering time wont change too much if its partial raytracing. Unreal engine do it in real time but noone expect lumion to have real time raytracing (lumion doesnt even have realtime viewport like other realtime engines so of course it would be hard to make realtime raytracing) but at least option for final render to add raytraced reflections or GI or shadows to improve quality just little bit.

I know the team at Lumion is working hard at updating and advancing everything. They have also been the trailblazers for so many things that other render engines are trying to catch up to. That said, for me, no WOW factor differentiates Lumion 12 from Lumion 11 or even 10. Sure there is more content, which I understand is time-consuming to make, but that only gets us so far when we have to create so much of our content for clients. The decals are the only added item that speeds up my workflow. A real “under the hood” update needs to be done (and I hope it is in the works). Maybe Lumion should forgo the next version and get RTX enhancements moving, along with raytracing. I really wanted to love this version.

It would be hard for them to have real time raytracing because lumion dont even have literally realtime rasterized viewport that u can move with all the effects. So first they should fix their realtime rasterization engine I guess so that they can have realtime raytracing on top. But at least they could add some Raytraced shadows or raytraced GI for final renders like a extra effect so we could have little better final renders with little more rendering time.

Lumion's upgrade is awesome every time. But I'm awaiting a feature to be added to lumion, it's the modeling tool. Modeling features makes lumion a complete package, along with its texture library. We are now have to lean on 3Ds max/sketch up pro and other 3D softwares, only to model the Buildings and shapes from Blue print. If that tool is available in lumion, lumion will be a great and complete package.

@@Lumion3D sometimes the fbx, obj and dae files do not get imported/converted correctly. It would be a great improvement to be able to import original blender files. Just as it is with skp files! To import those is very reliable.

Later that day, here we are, Lumion 12 :D Sadly I can't get it anyways, I think I'll need a better GPU, currently rocking a Radeon Pro WX 3100, and also I'll need actual money to buy the license, since currently I gotta pay for uni. Hi Philip. Lumion is a stand-alone software. It does have the LiveSync plugin to connect Lumion to other 3d modelling software, but it is certainly not a plugin.
