@@jeremygott7709 Hogan deserves to have a big ego. Without him, professional wrestling in my eyes wouldn't reached the levels it has. There is a difference between having an ego and being a prick. However, as Shawn Michaels said in his book, "If you don't have a big ego or believe you're the best. You won't make it in professional wrestling."

@@LastSunrise1981 Many wrestlers have been successful without believing themselves to be the absolute pinnacle of pro wrestling. While most of those wrestlers have never been "The Guy," there are still those, like Rock and Austin, who were bigger than Hogan, who don't have as much of an ego as him. They do have an ego, but it's small when compared to Hogan. I mean. you reference Shawn, and even he admits that Bret was the better wrestler. Oh and while you say Hogan deserves to have that big of an ego, that could be objectively true, but what has Chris done to deserve that big of an ego? His biggest contributions to wrestling were his one liners about Stephanie and beating up Goldberg backstage, the latter of which, most wrestling fans don't know about. To be fair to Jericho though, he sucks now, but he's still a better wrestler than Hogan was in his prime.

@@jeremygott7709 rock maybe but that's mostly because of Hollywood but SCSA no he is not bigger than hogan. People always talk abt how great the attitude era was but that was mainly because of Hogan's heel turn and nwo without them no attitude era no rock no stone cold. Those massive numbers that the attitude era Monday night wars was getting was mostly because hogan nwo and wcw. It was not just the attitude era it was wrestling in general that was drawing the most at that time and it all started with Hogan's heel turn. Rock and stone cold dont have big enough egos I'm not sure abt that one lol you can find out abt the rocks ego over in Hollywood and as for stone cold he walked out of wwe because he refused to put brock Lesnar over lol you never saw hogan walk out of a company while in contract because he didn't want to put someone over. Plus Hogan has more Ls than wins in his matches.

Jericho might not be the GOAT but he is definitely deserving of everything he has accomplished. If he had Triple H’s size and push, he probably would be the greatest of all time. He was a 10/10 promo during the Attitude Era - Ruthless Agression (before it went scripted and PG). His matches with Benoit, Rey Mysterio, Rock, Angle, Regal, Malenko, Shawn Michaels etc were stuff of legends (9/10). His look was a 8.5/10 only because he was smaller. Jericho might have had a rough couple of years with age catching up to him, but you can’t take anything away from him.

@@joen8529 that’s fine, but notice that you could say the same thing about Austin and Rock. Austin was very entertaining and obviously sold a lot of merch and was super over, but he too was not that great of a wrestler after his injury. Did the same thing over and over again in the ring and in storyline. Rock was once in a lifetime talent. Super charismatic, had the crowd in the palm of his hand; has the physique of a Greek God, but average wrestler and some of his promos were repetitive. You can always find something to criticize about a great performer. Jericho is no different.

@@joen8529 I got that sense as well, I tend to find a lot of people who watched him from the late 2000s onwards seem to rate him on the same level as some of the usual Mt. Rushmore candidates (insert names here). I used to watch WWE regular from 2003 (for a few years) and he was always a mid carder, who did occasionally work with main event talent. Don't get me wrong he was well-liked, but not deemed a star in the same way as many others. So it has been interesting during the AEW era, seeing this really odd worship of him with online fans. Don't get me wrong, Jericho had great matches back in the day and was good on the mic, but yeah it has been surprising. I am not sure if his career has been victim to revisionist history, in the sense they have overestimated his impact...

You would think that your co-host would actually do research before throwing things up on a screen. The goat tee shirt that has the animal with Chris' head was a shirt concept that Jericho came up with to raise profits for a fundraiser for juvenile diabetes which two of his children have. You can see the exact shirt that someone is selling on eBay and even state that the shirt for sale was a fundraiser shirt with an article link in the description.

I feel like Jericho's recent work and his political opinions have skewed peoples opinions on him and almost created a revisionist timeline where we disregard how good he has been for over 20 years. He was an internet darling in the early days of his career known for his in ring stuff, become a huge star during the Attitude Era with one of the most stacked rosters in history. Was probably the Number 3 babyface in 2000 behind Rock and Taker and number 4 overall behind the former 2 plus Austin when he returned. Then you see the iconic HBK feuds in 2003 and 2008. Whatever you think of him now being washed up or an egomaniac, whatever, it is valid. But you can't rewrite history. Cornette used to kiss his ass and love him until he found out about his Trump affiliations and now he and many others bury him for that and pretend they didnt love him for the previous 20 years before that. Almost like the opposite of HHH. He was maligned for 20 years for burying talent and being an egomaniac now hes the saviour.

Ooooh boy it started off as mild defence for Jericho and just diverged into "waaaah Cornette!" Do people remember the Iron Shiek for his good work, or his later work as well as crazy shoot promos? Nuff said. Jericho can't coast on the good stuff he did up until maybe his second year in AEW. Everything since then has been dreadful as is he as a person imo. You can let him rest on his laurels his whole career and a be a hypocrite but I'm not doing it. He isn't struggling for money so I wish he'd do himself and the viewer a favour: get his HOF induction and f*ck off. Also I dislike him for being that internet darling. Like how he threw his toys out the pram back in 2002 because the fans on some nothing message board don't rate his match highly enough. Good to know the Metzler mindset has been kicking around longer than we would think.

Without disputing any of that, if I had to choose between having somebody on the roster like Triple H during the Reign Of Terror who never, ever did any jobs...and having somebody on the roster like Jericho, who regardless of whether he inserts himself into programs is generally willing to do jobs (to Adam Cole, to MJF three times before getting a single win back, to Omega in New Japan, to Mox, to Claudio, and the list goes on)...then I'd rather have the guy who'll do jobs. Ideally I wouldn't have *anybody* with an oversized ego around, but he could definitely be worse.

That "Vince" didn't see Jericho as a top guy because of his size doesn't diminish his greatness as a wrestler in terms of promo, wrestling, entertainment, hard work, and creativity 3. Did James say that Triple H wouldn't be cheered over Rock/Austin while Jericho would be? And that and Pat is the only reason Jericho got the belt? So, Jericho is the champ because he is liked by fans and one of the greatest business minds and that is a bad thing? Hey, I am not a big fan of current Jericho and he has an inflated ego, but that doesn't mean he isn't good. Two separate topics, bub.

Thanku 👍 u took the words out of my mouth!! I have said for yrs that he is an Upper Mid Card guy that you can put in ME. But he has never been on same level with Hogan, Austin, Rock. Great worker, great on mic but there is something off with his look character, probably because he is more less a chicken shit heel at his best??
@uttermanbo

Jericho is like a more generous version of HHH. He never was the top guy, but he could be right there as a fill in as a temporary top guy. He's talented all around. Dislike him if you want, but to call him a midcarder is silly. The guy is good.

The Buffalo Bill comment 😂… James, you handsome devil. I always have been a Jericho fan but he can be a little… full of himself, and he’s been a guy who can politic for himself to a certain level. Bless him for getting to Tony’s wallet

Im aware of jericho ego. But he has a good podcast i listen too. And stone cold himself said jericho is at the top for reinventing himself. The moves etc. However. I droppped of wrestling since 2009/10ish i agree with james hes a mid carder with jeff hardy/rvd etc.

While I'm not at all a fan of AEW Jericho, and it's getting a bit sad to see to where he's now at and he doesn't help himself, WWE Jericho was pretty epic. That late 00's heel run was an all timer. And he was over as fuck in the initial baby face run.

This is what a bias looks like. Jericho is an upper card guy. He sits down with writers because he has ideas to bring to the table, he's taking the initiative. He sells GOAT merchandise and wears GOAT tights to the ring because his character is suppose to be cocky. The interview he was doing was a shoot and real life. You're confusing his gimmick with who he is. Jericho isnt a superstar household name like rock, hogan, cena and austin, but theres no doubt hes right underneath them.

So you agree with me he's an upper midcarder?
@bane3991
@bane3991 2 ай бұрын
@cafederene So let me try to understand this. If your name isn't Hogan, Cena, Rock, or Austin you're an upper mid carder at best? Those guys are upper card but they're also the elites of the elites. Someone like Randy Orton is an upper card guy but he isn't a household name. Sting was an upper card guy but he isn't a household name. Kevin Nash was an upper card guy but he isn't a household name. Triple H isn't a household name but is an upper card wrestler. Chris Jericho is no doubt upper card. I understand you hate this guy for whatever reason. That's fine that's your opinion. But all bias aside, he's upper. You can't look at Jerichos career and put him in the mid card category. It's just impossible.

I do wonder if reputation for being political and a mark for himself was common knowledge. He was very passionate apprently in tslking down Cena from his finish with Barrett. I wonder did Cena plow on regardless because he had that in his mind with Jericho. Didnt trust the advice and had to learn the lesson first hand. Sadly fueling Jerichos ego in the process. I bet had that been any vet not in the match they he may of acted different.

That is an interesting point but I even think Edge was trying to talk Cena down from that. But sadly that was a moment where you have to learn the hard way. I can't remember did Nexus happen before or after Shamus first title run.

Not sure if he’s the goat but Jericho has had a long and mostly injury free career. How many serious injuries has he had necessitating time off? Even Undertaker gave him props for that. I’ve always been a Jericho fan but as he got older and branched out from wrestling into music and tv and whatnot, it just seemed like he became a huge ass kisser, buddies with all these rock stars and celebrities, and making sure everyone knew who he was friends with. I think he should’ve retired in 2017 when he left WWE, maybe faded off into the sunset a bit and kept doing his podcast, maybe the odd tv show if the opportunity presented itself, kind of like Stone Cold. But he’s just hanging around, getting older, tarnishing his legacy. He’s like David Lee Roth, in that Roth still thinks it’s 1984 and Jericho thinks it’s 2001-02

I pitty Chris Jericho because he never was able to amount to anything past a midcarder. I remember a raw segment where stonecold was on and it was all a hype up for a chris vs christian match and just like me the audience went dead. That is how it feels when hes on tv in any era.

When Jericho first came in to WWE i didnt know him from WCW (didnt watch it) i cant lie i was a fan i thought he was great but once he had that break and came back with short hair and looking a bit flabby he was never the same, For me anyway he just didnt have that same aura around him. When he punched that woman i lost a lot of respect for him i hate famous people that treat their fans as below them they are only in the position they're in because of those same people but they forget that real quick

Jericho is for me the real life definition of 2 Face......he gives a lot of money to charity, hes paid the most into many former wrestlers go fund me's. He always wants to work with younger talent (again good or bad?).....BUT he has an Ego the size of Milky Way, he loves himself, and when people say Bret Hart took himself too seriously, well, fuck, Jericho is like Hart on roids.....hes clearly done a lot of seedy shit and continues to have issues with people (especially in hotels), add to that his recent Political allegiances and his stance during Covid........for me its all about him, it always will be, and it even makes his altrusitic generosity look like its done for Ego and not good will.
