Bloody hell that loading screen soundtrack takes me right back

Ahhh that loading screen sends shivers down my spine.........I bought this game back in the day and remember hacking infinite health with my Final Replay Cart........happy memories

This was a HUGE game! I could never finish it, as I was killed by the skinheads every time. You needed perfect timing and both keyboard and joystick to control your figure. The music was always awesome!

This game was actually way better than the c64 port of Double Dragon, but the controls were too awkward which ruined it.

A joy to play on the ZX Spectrum thanks to great controls.

I played this many times, but completed it only once. I remember being utterly bummed when after finally rescuing my girl, the game just restarts from level 1, like nothing happened.

I had the cpc464 version and always was fascinated with c64 looking at the screen shots on the back of the cassette covers. I wished mum had bought the c64 instead. Now I know the c64 was crap looking at this game and sound. Cpc464 version had better graphics and sound in this game. Wasted years of regret as a 9 year old.
@SirHilaryManfat5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, definitely wasted regret. I was lucky enough to have a C64, but some of the Amstrad conversions especially, trounced the C64 ones. Chase HQ and Renegade are just two that I can remember. The Amstrad also had a far nicer colour pallete than the C64's, and some amazing games. I think we were all lucky if we owned one of the big four 8-Bits (Spectrum, Amstrad, C64 and Atari 400), as they all had brilliant games on them.

I had the cpc version of this and I remember I used to get dissed by someone who owned a c64 and boasted how the sprites were bigger. I have to say I am happy I had a cpc - way better esp this version

This is certainly an underrated C64 gem. I loved playing this when I was a kid and can appreciate it even more now I can enjoy the arcade game on MAME. People moan about the controls, yet the coder tried to replicate the coin op's controls and it worked for me. Say what you want, but at least this port wasn't a rushed mess of a port and if people moan about the blocky graphics, guess what, the Coin ops visuals were a bit crap too, but the gameplay on this port is spot on.
@osakatales92284 жыл бұрын
I mean there's nothing wrong about the C64 graphics, they had to work with what they had but I can't agree on the Arcade's visuals looking bad though, I'd say the controls were tedious.

@Rattopaz7 жыл бұрын
Yes, controls are bad, but once you get hang of it it become pretty easy, i used to reach unbelivable levels, yes after you complete the 4 stages the game game start over but enemies get more HP and hit faster, at some point the enemies get so much HP that is impossible to kill them in the given time, BTW time should be 2:15 for every level, you used a hack or something or this version was different than mine?

A bit like poor mans Double Dragon, but played it quite a lot. And the controls were awkward, but what didn't we put up with in those days! 😅

How to kick and punch to left (I'm using Vice)? I use all buttons on the top left of the keyboard (", 1, 2, 3). However, the hero only kicks and punches to right and when there's an enemy on his left, he still does! (uses the backward kick). So annoying. I always have to face the enemies looking right, can't harm them when they are on my left.
@ZEUSDAZ2 жыл бұрын
I'm guessing you're turning round? The controls are like double Dragon II on arcade, annoying controls that are reversed when facing the other way.
@azalea_k10 ай бұрын
One surefire way to turn round is to do a flying kick in that direction. He will automatically often face the direction the enemies come in, but the easiest way round this is to head to a wall and let them come to you. (obviously this doesn't work on the skinheads stage).
