Outside of the buried alive segment giving me the most horrific anxiety, I suddenly understand why Adam and Jamie had so many precautions on Mythbusters when they did the buried alive stuff. And why they did the smart thing and didn't actually go underground!

It's putting yourself in almost the _ultimate_ defenseless situation, voluntarily. "Almost", mind, because ACTUALLY hopeless would be shit like "while tied up, blindfolded, face-down... covered in scorpions" idk, my point left a while ago.

I might have been a kid when this episode of Mythbusters aired (I don't remember the air date) and likely didn't fully understand the precaution of not actually go underground to test this, but man... now that I am an adult, no other myth terrifies me more than them testing being buried alive. Even with all the precautions, one wrong thing and that would have been it for whoever was testing it at the time, and this is only extremely dangerous myth that I wish they never did for that fact

11:35 Rarely have I seen Nate so uncomfortable. Buried alive sounds like an awful way to go.

Yeah, Nate once said ,"I like for loved ones to at least wait thirty minutes and then bury me!" I think he said something similar along those lines.

@@Q-Vu He has claustrophobia that's why he gets so uncomfortable whenever anything involving confined spaces is brought up and before anyone asks me "how do I know this?" Look at his body language, it screams all the information you need to know.

I don't blame him tbh, the thought of being buried alive by itself is scary as fuck.

that tight rope walk incident, I remember seeing as a kid "Spike TV's most Amazing Videos", they showed a tight rope walking segment of this legendary tight rope walker and they show him falling, not everything, but they did show enough to show "Welp, he's dead".

"Now, before we inspire others to try this... it doesn't go... _well."_ As if to basically say "Listen; this shit's extremely dangerous! *DO NOT BE MOTIVATED TO ATTEMPT THIS YOURSELF!!!"*

24:20 this reminds me of Christian Eriksen. Football (soccer) Euro 2021, cardiac arrest during the game, medics performing cpr and defibbing, all on the field, with TV cameras not cutting away or anything. Survived thankfully. I saw it live on TV, I genuinely thought I just saw a person die. Someone I had known of and respected for a few years at that stage.

I don’t think I have ever seen nate this disturbed and uncomfortable before, I haven’t been around the channel long but from what ive seen, there’s not much that gets him like this. Besides that, love your videos guys, keep up with what your doing and bless you all❤

Children and baby animals. That's my limit, Mr. Nate. Any harm done to them is enough to put murderous fury in me. This video showcases so many tragedies and almost tragedies. Some of the tragedies are self inflicted but not all. The random tragedies are the worst where you can't blame anything outright. Thanks for your reaction.

Agreed. It's just so frustrating when creatures so innocent get hurt maliciously.

The worst places I’ve seen some of these accidents shown is in the Ripley’s Believe It or Not books, including the ice skating accident, all uncensored. Some of the stuff in those books is too graphic to describe in detail. I don’t know how they’re able to get away with putting such graphic images in books that are frequently promoted towards children. If a child sees any of those images they’d be scarred for life. I have been scarred myself from some of those images, even writing this now is making me physically sick. I still don’t understand how they can get away with that.

i am unreasonably frustrated by that last section as someone who had been studying journalism. in our ethics class, we were taught about 'doorknocking' - where you visit a person with a recently deceased relative in order to interview them - and i remember sitting there feeling sick to my stomach that people weren't allowed to grieve their deceased relatives before other people started pointing cameras in their face. ingrid cruz was not only uninformed, she was also trying to get a reaction out of a woman who had lost her child. its disgusting and evil. i almost blame her as much for maritza's death as her husband - if not more so

Well, cheap methods do exist out there, like using gasoline as a paint thinner. This one guy was convicted for killing his parents by setting the house on fire, however it was determined to be caused by a single match on a flammable couch on a cheaply made floor(had gasoline in the varnish under the carpets that had wear and tear on the floor that looked like pour patterns.) Parents were elderly and didn't know where to escape. The guy was let out of jail.

Yeah, Malarchuk and Zednik lived, Malarchuk mainly due to the Sabres trainer being an actual MASH-style physician during Vietnam. Jim Pizzitelli is a hero. And as for the mention of Damar Hamlin, the exact same is what I mentioned in the last video's section with Chris Pronger. In a 1997 (1998, maybe) game between Pronger's St. Louis Blues and the Detroit Red Wings, Pronger blocked a slapshot from Slava Fetisov. Play stopped as the ref noticed some unnatural movement by Pronger, who then just flopped to the ice. Pronger, thankfully, recovered after an IED/AED and went on to play until incurring a scratched cornea in 2011.

I dont wanna ice skate at all and i dont necessarily have a fear or anything. But then Blades of Glory showed the Iron Lotus. Sure it's fictional but it made my brain click that ice skates are actually sharp.

I was very close to both sets of my grandparents and I have an uncle who tried to attack my dad at one of the funerals and threaten to shoot up a different grandparents funeral. I found it was shockingly common when the funeral home staff seemed completely unbothered and had full action plans. All this to say that the media definitely knew better than to fuel that man but did it anyway because they are greedy.

They were basically asking for it, not to justify what happened but still when someone is know to have threatened to kill others it’s better to back off and avoid escalating further but Journalists seem to forget that. Basically FAFO

24:33 Little League Syndrome. This is why they keep AEDs on standby for kids' sports leagues. The nickname comes from the fact that this type of cardiac arrest is much more common in children because the target to hit on a child is much bigger than with an adult. Basically what happens is if you get hit really hard by something in the chest, such as a high-speed baseball, right when your heart is beating, it will stop your heart, literally interrupting the normal rhythm. In children, you can basically just hit them in the chest and cause it because it's so compact (the big upper chest tikes have is not their lungs or ribs, it's actually their liver, since the liver reaches adult size much faster than the rest of their body, causing it to push outward until the rest of the body catches up) whereas in adults, you have to hit right in the sternum. Luckily, AEDs are built for this. A common misconception about AEDs is that they are shocking the heart back to life, when this is not the case: it resets the rhythm, but it doesn't fix things like cardiac arrest from a clogged artery. So the AED in this case is perfectly suited since it CAN reset a failed rhythm caused by a hard impact. But Little League Syndrome is scary. A person could be fine one second, and then fall right down in cardiac arrest, without any pre-existing conditions, just like shown here. -🖊/🚸
