It's mostly faded by now, but the reason people used to hate Raiden is largely because he was the main character in MGS2, but the demo for that game, which was literally the first level, made people think that they'd still be playing as Solid Snake, but once they got past that level, they found out that instead they got a character who, at the time, looked like an anime boy band reject, and I've heard some people considered him whiney. His reputation turned around when he showed up in MGS4 as a badass cyborg, and people were like "why didn't we get THIS version of Raiden in MGS2!?" Then Revengeance came out and wiped away most of the rest of that lingering hatred. Now almost everyone who hates him is mostly just annoyed at how his VA hammed up the scene in Revengeance where he first goes back into his Ripper Persona.

1) Raidens prior sword cuts just as well as the murasama. They are both imbued with the same technology. 2) The fight should of never lasted that long. Should of been about 10 seconds. Raiden would have no problem cutting through him without Ripper mode. These are facts. It was drawn out to make it enjoyable. Hence the gecko being around. Plus.. Raiden has gone through way more without needing a refuel

actually HF technology effectiveness depending on the sword's original quality which is why a base HF blade is not as good as a 16th century samurai sword which is presumed to use a much more refined quality metal, in the end the Murasama would be more effective than the base HF blade, explaining why it could cut through Armstrong unlike the original HF blade, which while powerful isn't strong enough to hurt Armstrong significantly.

Were there really people suggesting wolverine vs raiden I’ve never seen any comments suggesting that and it just seems like it was screwattack that came up with the battle in the first place. A guy with claws with an adamantium skeleton vs a guy that has a sword that is capable of slicing that said adamantium it’s just unfair and one has a clear advantage over the other. I know this comment is late but just wanted to point it out there that some of these death battles are kinda lazy

@@samuel10125 Just a scene from MGS4 where Raiden helps out Solid Snake in the final mission of the game. He's pretty much dead at that time of the game and is only there to slow down the enemies for Snake, the whole lightning strike is just a flashy little thing put in for it's own sake he doesn't do that too often.

@@samuel10125 I bought an old ps3 just so I could play MGS4, I'm a long time fan. But if you can I'd highly recommend playing through both via an emulator or legit consoles or watching a playthrough of them at least. MGS1 is my favourite in terms of emotionally charged story but MGS4 basically explains the whole plotline to the series. Anyway it's good to meet a fellow fan.

actually Raiden already had an HF Blade of his own. it's much weaker than Sam's, but an HF Blade, nonetheless. so even if he didn't have Sam's, with his strength and power, he would STILL beat Wolvie.

Alicia Kerns because Armstrong had nanobots in his body blocking the blade and healing from the total damage. Even replacing nanobots as they where cut. With Sam’s blade being a higher quality blade and with more power. Allowing him to cut deeper and for the nanobots to take longer to regenerate from the damage.

at about 23:00 you guys were talking about the animation. The way screw attack does it is that they do the research, decide a winner and then animate it. Really, Jack could have just gone ripper mode from the beginning and killed wolverine then and there. The gecko in the beginning was just animated in to add extra time to the fight because just ending the fight at the very beginning would be no fun at all.

In Death Battle the characters are at their best. Raiden was fully charged at the beginning and he had his sword.

You need to keep in mind the battle is just for entertainment the research is what matters. So the gekko thing isn't a real factor raiden's sword and his superior strength and speed won this.

If I have my facts straight, then the bone claws became canon in the 90's. After Magneto ripped the adamantium off his bones and out his pores, he discovered he had bone claws under the adamantium. This later led to a weird plotline were it turns out that without his healing factor constantly fighting adamantium poisoning, he would mutate further into a more savage, almost caveman-ish, form. The 90's were a weird time for comics.

I'm pretty sure that Raiden always has a high frequency blade. Even when you upgrade before you get Jetstream Sam's (He is so fucking awesome) sword it is still called the High Frequency Blade or ''HF Blade".

I watched the Death battle pre show and post show. And they said their research showed that the Ultimate Universe Wolverine can be pulled apart by the Hulk because the adamantium coats his bones individually. But the main universe Wolverine cannot because there are apparently adamantium links between his bones keeping them all together. So I guess in addition to tendons, the adamantium bones themselves are chained so knowing if Raiden's sword can cut through adamantium was crucial in confirming if Raiden can decapitate Wolverine as well.

If the bones were chained together with adamantium, flexibility would be crippled because the chains would allow the joints to move only so far. Wolverine's ability to move would be reduced to relatively small movements compared to normal. Making the chains longer would only lead to other problems-it wouldn't actually keep his skeleton together should he need to regenerate his body (such as when he was incinerated by that bomb) and he would just grow a new set of bones starting from his skull, leading to the dangling bits of old adamantium skeleton being left inside of (and sticking out of) his new body... and he would be unable to fix the problem, because the bones and their chains are adamantium, and he can't cut them. That would be a torturous way to live, don't you think?

I agree much with what yo guys have said. Also centering the fact that he had the Murasama, they did say like in the Superman VS Goku 2 that they choose the character in a timeline when they were at their strongest so its kind of expected for Raiden to be in his Newer Cyborg body and to be holding Sam's sword. Also centering on the Gekko, i didn't really think the actual fight started when they first started. I think they just showed that as a sort of interaction between the two before the true fight began. Anyways, still love your reactions and will be continuing on watching your videos.

Honestly, the adamantium only coats Wolverine's bones, anyways. The brain can probably still be accessed through the bottom of his skull, and I think Deadpool confirms this in one of the comics. If Raiden could figure that much out (and who's to say he can't?) Wolverine is screwed, anyways.

One thing they might not have mentioned, but Wolverine, despite his healing factor, does feel pain every time he shifts his claws. So a HF blade is definitely gonna hurt regardless. HF weaponry is definitely something that's OP, yet still badass enough to counter even a healing factor, because it CAN be overtaxed.

Actually, it looks like the main Marvel Universe Wolverine is staying dead. Instead, it looks like after Secret Wars they are going to have Old Man Logan (from the comic series of the same name) end up in the main universe. So they are basically replacing him with a alternate universe version who is frankly more interesting.

In regards to the comment about Raiden not having the Murasama, Death Battle tries to pair it's fighters at their highest/best versions, which is why Raiden even got the power boost at the beginning. Wolverine's power ups more or less come from situations like when he was a Ghost Rider (if I remember correctly) or when he was possessed.

loved the video and honestly the battle seemed fair to me. Raiden had the skills and tools to win and people saying Wolverine should have won because of his age are sadly wrong. He has lost a lot of his memories from before the Weapon X program so assuming he remembers every battle he has been in doesn't work. Sure he may have flashes of memory but that's it. Even in Wolverine and the X-men he stated he wasn't as good of a swordsman as he used to be since he stopped training while Raiden hasn't. Plus they stated that in his standard body he could lift over 1,000 tons while Wolverine could only lift two. Also speed is a factor as Raiden can move faster and since his eye is cybernetic he can see faster like Captain America so all Wolverine has is his healing, bones, and stubborn nature going for him. And to those people who claim Wolverine can win because he has killed Sentinels before that still doesn't make him stronger then Raiden as he had never lifted then and thrown them like rag dolls.

In DBZ Hercule is seen as a joke, but that's just because the other characters are so powerful. Take away that and Hercule is actually a good fighter with impressive strength as he did win the World Martial Arts Tournament once.
