On topic of people being arrested for speech, I recommend you check out the channel Count Dankula. He’s a Scottish gentleman who was arrested for making a joke (to be precise, he made a video of his dog sieg heiling as a joke to make his girlfriend angry, which he states in the video. The video accidentally went viral and his life was pretty much ruined because one guy found it offensive.) Other than documenting his fights to get his charges repealed, he also makes his MadLad series, which I think you guys would find interesting as it talks about the more unique of historical figures. I’m curious as to your opinion on his predicament, and also his videos are just plain hilarious

I don't think that's an actual poll. It's mainly the editors making that decision. Far more importantly, though, the Time Person of the Year has *never* referred to the _best_ person of the year, but rather to the person who _most influenced_ the events of that year. With that as the criterium, it becomes *extremely* easy to see how Kim Jong-Un could become the Time Person of the Year. TL;DR: Being named "Time Person of the Year" is not necessarily an honour. Adolf Hitler was the PotY at one point. Rather, it's an acknowledgement of the impact they had on the World Stage that year, whether good or bad.

I think media kinda got extra focusy on negative overall, I'm from Europe, I remember the earlier days where the first half of news was usually the bad stuff and the last half was focused more on positivity and uplifting your mood. Now it's all negativity at least 6 times a day. I feel like this might have started getting worse when they moved forward to the internet, make money on it and when they realised that overblowing negativity gets more "clicks".

(I'm sure it is the same in the USA). i know of some of these cases in Germany (people informed me) if you say some racist nonsense you can get these kinds of punishment.

Here in the US there are no legal ramifications for hate speech, and there is a strong argument that having such laws would be unconstitutional. I am actually in favor of that, as making hate speech illegal means they can make literally anything illegal by saying its hate speech, eventually removing freedom of speech as a whole. People being allowed to say racist crap is unfortunately a necessary evil

I usually go to Tim Pool's channel since he looks into what the news say and try to give his take by other sources and criticize it, people can choose someone else, they may not agree with my pick, but find someone that can give a middle ground stance and not just confirming your bias. As for the last of us 2, it's gamergate all over again, not that the fans are "toxic", but game developers making things they deem what's "innovative" instead of entertaining, at the expense of their consumers willing to buy the game, as game "journalist" praise high scores, but when the consumers have a voice in the matter, the "journalist" defend the developer, attack the consumer, developer and company say how they're victim of the hate because virgins didn't want things done their way and sent death threats. Which case, can't deny that kind of stuff would happen, HOWEVER for the last of us 2, I question when fans are protecting the game, AT THE SAME TIME, sending those said death threats.
