I recommending watching the "Barbie" Episode of the Netflix Series "The Toys That Made Us". You'll get her whole Origin Story there. The Lili doll was based on a Comic Strip Character in Germany who was a Call-Girl and Men would buy those dolls and give them to women in dates as a "Hint" for what the men were after.

The problem with the GI Joe and wrestling figure comparison is that they aren't portrayed as the everyday man. Barbie isn't an action figure- she's supposed to be a girl who is everything from cashier to astronaut. GI Joe are only ever elite strike force, wrestlers are only ever wrestlers. Barbie is supposedly every girl, and she does it with impossible body proportions. I'd argue that the more harmful toy toward boys are the army men, because it sets up this naive understanding of war and wanting to be a 'cool' soldier when in reality it's taking lives for a system that's far from the greatest.

I hate all the antisemitic claims thrown at Walt Disney. Take a look at the WWII-era cartoons from Disney. While most other major cartoons went after the Japanese, Disney focused mostly on the Germans, bashing Hitler specifically a number of times. "But what about that cartoon where Donald Duck is a Nazi?" Watch the whole cartoon! Not only are Donald's working conditions horrible and Donald is obviously miserable, it's revealed to be a nightmare. Donald wakes up with his room full of American...everything (lamps, sheets, clocks, drapes, etc. are all the US flag) and he remarks how relieved he is to live the United States. I think I read somewhere that Walt himself told an ethnic joke once or twice, and that's where the antisemitism comes from. Let's actually use context for once. Ethnic humor was accepted back then and it didn't automatically make someone a racist. People used to know the difference between having a laugh and making a mean-spirited insult. As for the games, one not mentioned was "Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus." I only know about it because DeceasedCrab did a let's play of it while recovering from having his wisdom teeth removed, so his speech was slurred and he was kinda loopy from the pain killers. (Obviously, this was meant to be a joke LP.) That said, he does admit the game is fairly decent and might have sold well if it didn't have the Barbie label attached to it.
