What happened when Rener had his opponent in closed guard and the referee restarted them (due to inactivity?) but they switched positions? Was that part of this tournament's ruleset? (Seems like a cool idea) @ Approx 3:05

It was a feature of the IGJJF / Gracie Academy rules where if someone could hold a closed Guard for a set amount of time, the position would be reversed to continue the action. A few changes like this made for a very different flavor to these tournaments.

Top person had three minutes to pass or they automatically switched positions. Bottom person wasn’t allowed to control both sleeves at the same time for more than ten seconds.
