Renewing the motorbike brake fluid

This is the second part of the story after I replaced the brake piston of the hand brake on my BMW K1100LT. BMW recommend that the brake fluid is renewed annually. This video shows how to renew the fluid in both the front and rear brakes.

Hi Nigel, I was told by a BMW mechanic not to bleed the ABS module. I bleed the ABS module ii on my 95 K1100LT, and now I have a plunger fail. Have bleed the brakes 3 times since and still get the error code plunger fail test. Can reset the ABS no problem but when you get to 10kmh the ABS is suppose to do its self test, clunk test I call it, but mine fails. The get the alternate ABS flashing lights. Brakes work fine, but no ABS unfortunately.

Great video! Going off the subject slightly, I am trying to sort out a K1100 LT with a new battery, There is a brown wire coming off the motronic part above the battery, its a spade connector on the motronic but it is loose and exposed on the other end Where would this connect? Is it an earth to the battery?

It goes to the battery negative terminal

Are you using dot4 fluid?

Only use Dot 4 on a K1100.
