I was diagnosed in my 40's with M.E. The rheumatologist told me that there was nothing that could be done other than learning to pace myself. I'm in my 70's now and to this day not one doctor has asked me how my condition is now - not once. I was just left to my own devices. I am much improved thankfully but cannot imagine your suffering being so young. I feel for you. Love your music Ren.

My story started in 2009. I am so grateful that I was already in my 40s. I am so grateful that my illness is not nearly as severe as Ren's. But damn I feel this video to my core. Is my day to day existence because of my depression, or do I keep falling into depression because my day to day existence is often exhausting for seemingly no reason? Hi Ren this is Phillips wife Susan. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I have been ill since having some flu like symptoms when I was seventeen in 1981. It took me 26 years to get a formal diagnosis of probably has Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I have been realising lately that on the whole I have been medically neglected for over 40 years in regard to the fluctuating energy impairment and cognitive issues I experience. Thank you for voicing your concerns about how people with chronic illness are treated. Speaking your truths to the world through your songs can change this. I am a bit of an activist at heart trying to raise awareness of these issues. I am grateful that you are managing to reach the people who may not be aware how much this area of health needs to be transformed. so many people are desperately needing better care than they currently receive. You are a love. You are now helping more people than you will ever know. My son lost 15 years in and out of mental wards with psychosis schizophrenia. He saw your video and said Mom, that is how it felt. That guy put it perfectly. When he was in high school he wrote alot of poems about his experiences and feelings. What’s worse with chronic illness, is that the illness itself often won’t kill you but instead cause daily lingering suffering, but that often leads to suicide. So for all intents and purposes, chronic illness IS fatal. There should be an urgency to find the root cause undiagnosed and elusive chronic illness, rather than simply just medicating and hoping for some stability, that’s just a bandaid. Because the consequence of getting it wrong and blowing patients off could be death anyway.

Change in diet might help,I suffer from vestibular migraines and cutting out caffeine definitely helped to start with.look at migraine foods and avoid them.

My whole life I’ve been at odds with the medical system. Took until my 40’s to get them to listen to me and give me the blood tests needed to diagnose my lifelong disabilities leading from a severe deficiency in Vitamin D… vital to keep in safe range of 50+; mine was 12.5 and told it was ‘normal’. I’m now battling stage 4 Cancer with no help from the system; so it’s down to me to look after me. You will find a way too. ✊🏽

I have no words. I'm speechless. I am also still going through a deep depression brought on by child abuse. However, it seems to me that my state of suffering is very small compared to yours. Over more than 20 years I took countless antidepressants whose side effects were destroying part of my neurocognitive area. It took many years for me to understand that the answer to my problem was not in mefications, but in me. I learned to relax and accept these circumstances, never giving up. As you say: this is an eternal dance. Today I feel fine, but I have some bad phases caused by the side effects accumulated over many years, and of course the pain that will never disappear from my subconscious. Today I am a much better human. I am very attentive to everyone who may be going through the same problems, trying to help. I wish you a speedy recovery. Everything will work out. Very soon you will be making good music again. You can't imagine how important your music has become and is helping many people with different problems to react and find hope in better days.

Ren you are in my prayers and thoughts. Ive been really sick for the past 6 months. They are all trying to say its stress. I barley can eat and honestly feel as if I'm dying at times. I care for my disabled mom, blind mentally challenged brother, and homeschool and care for my 7 yr old son. They all count on me. When you said you wouldnt have all this if I werent strong enough to get through it. I needed that so bad!!! I'm hoping someone will just take the time to dig. Ive had stress my whole life I know my body. This tired week body isnt me.... I just want to be me and live and love again. I want to be a daughter, mother, friend, and me again. Well I hope yor stay in Calgary did wonders for you. You are a genius. I have had Type 1 diabetes for the last 40 years with lots of complications. Severe nerve pain in my legs and feet and injections in my eyes to help keep my sight. So I can kind of relate to what you have been through. Your songs touch base with me and it has actually helped. You have become the voice in the wilderness for this issue. My mother went Misdiagnosed for years she had lupus my brother went misdiagnosed , he had Lyme disease as well. There is definitely a problem , and part of it is big pharma that pushes medications , with out a proper diagnosis. If your feeling anxiety or depression they just give you a pill to suppress the feeling instead of working at finding the reason and working on fixing the problem. I believe you have become the person to bring this issue straight in the face of so many and giving a voice to so many who suffer. “Hi Ren” Has shown so many the hard truth of this issue. There needs to be more awareness about Lyme and your sharing will no doubt make an impact both helping people with lyme that feel so misunderstood or worse. Sometimes it takes specialists and generic health care does not cut it. Most doctors base everything on what their book says to do given a list of symptoms. They lack the ability to think outside the box and really analyze a patient because they have 20 other patients they need to tend to and simply do not have the time or energy to really dig in. Unfortunately private health care is the best way to go about it but it's expensive.

Ren, I just discovered you a few days ago. I’m injured and haven’t been able to leave the house for over a week. I also take medication for auditory hallucinations.
