It's minimalist, for sure. But cheap, at that. Could easily add some meshing with some paracord or something similar, from corner to corner. Make a little pocket for the phone or other device. I like bring battery packs with me, and then use something like this during the day to keep my packs topped off, and use the packs themselves primarily for charging, mainly because they work at night as well. The cool thing about this is you can just paracord it to the back of your backpack and let it trickle charge while hiking.

It's a good solar charger. My advice is to charge a powerbank first rather than a phone directly if using on the fly attached to your pack in a woodland setting. Thanks for watching!

glad you to the power reset test. i have seen too many fail and wonder why companies dont fix that flaw.

The countermeasures seem like the Newer Goal Zero I speculate. If the draw gets reduced to a certain point it restarts aka acts like the user unplugged and plugged the device back in. ECEEN uses a timed restart every 3 minutes regardless of draw. That one is my favorite. The one flaw with the draw/input based is if conditions are on the edge aka constant clouds or late season/day/whatever the phone can constantly turn on and off over and over again draining the device. I think some makers just blame the device and then get a pile of hate on Amazon for it. LOL! Overall I prefer to charge a powerbank when away from the panel even with the conversion loss in the transfer to the phone. Nothing to go wrong and if someone takes the panel and powerbank the loss is less than a phone or tablet. Thanks for watching!

Nice vid bro. I have the 10 watt model and love it. The 5 watt seems to be good also, based on your solid review!

You're amassing enough solar panels to power a small town Walker. ;-) Amazon is listing this one for $20 ($30 for the more efficient "plus" model)

Hello! I've bien watching yours videos and they're really relaxing! I wanted to ask a few things.. When you plugged a little device into the solar panel, was that a usb voltage readout? A specific one? Just caught my attention And do you have any kind of recommendation on flashlight? Rechargeable or dynamic energy one? (I don't know if that's the correct name, that it's manually turned on when moving a crank or pressing a button? Be safe! Cheers!

Nice little panel, thanks for the review Kevin. Even though I don't know my amps from a volt in the ground (Haha) all these volts, watts and miliamps are Greek to me. But I'll take your word for it.
@MegaWoodswalker5 жыл бұрын
Volts times Amps = Watts. So for example if you have a 1A phone charger at 5v that would = 5W (but the actual input might not be 5W in the real world). Hope that helps and thanks for watching.

I have one of these, used it for a week, successfully in the UK. Tried it in hotter climes in the Pyrenees and it kept shutting down and drawing from the phone. Seems to get too hot and shut down if the sun shines strong!

The one thumbs down, is probably using a fruit roll up as a solar panel. That’s a nice little panel. 👍👏

Have you had any experience with polycrystalline vs mono crystalline panels? I’ve heard that in the larger panels that the polycrystalline panels work better in a partially shaded environment.
@MegaWoodswalker5 жыл бұрын
I never did however these panels (guessing any other brand using this type) have better low light performance in my testing. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qIHagmOcr892iMU Thanks for watching!

You are best just walking around with a 5 watt solar panel hanging off your back with a long lead to a high capacity 25000mah powerbank in your back pack all day. Then charge your phone from the powerbank. The use of the sun will be continuous and not just until a small capacity, like, 4000mah phone battery is full. Also the powerbank can be tucked away outside of the sun which can damage the lithium polymer battery. I have a 25000mah power bank with a "gimmick" panel on it which is rated at 1.5 watts. It's dumb really. 25000mah powerbank with a 1.5 watt max solar panel. Estimated powerbank charge time of 75 hours or so in peak sun condition. Just not practical.
