I’m liking the theory that ren is so distant and focused because he’s scared he’s not good enough and wants to improve, following the times he got beat or couldn’t protect his team. Tyrian, the Ace Ops (he noticed but was too slow to do anything). Now that they’re helping our protagonists train he’s putting his all into it so that he can protect his friends as much as possible. Like when his attack on Elm fails in training, he just growls ‘again’, and he’s super focused on all his missions. I think it’s building to something

Barely Edited I also noticed in ep 6 during training, Ren was seen meditating and if I remember correctly, the screen kinda went white when it focused on him so I wonder if he saw something bad happen and is too afraid to say anything? Maybe he saw something bad happen to Nora, hence why he’s so gung-ho on wanting to train more because he’s afraid of loosing more people he cares about. At least that’s my theory, but no one else seems to be talking about that and are too busy gushing over Bmblb 😒

I belive that Rooster Teeth has already put elements of their deaths in the RWBY series. Remember when Nora told Ren not to throw away his life to run into a battle he can't win? I think that portrays the suicde aspect of Mulan's story. I belive firmly that Ren isn't going to kill himself thankfully. Pyra of course got shot in the ankle by cinder and died...😔 And after Pyras death, when the gang is at Haven Joune had been out to get Cinder and was fighting her. Cinder has tons of fire elements in her character design and because of that, I think that RWBY is telling us that either Cinder or Joune will kill each other. In Nora's case she could clash with a snake faunus or Grimm, Nora hasn't been shown to parallel too much of Thors story besides the hammer. So we should look out for Snakes on the next volumes.

I know that it seems like they’re teasing it with volume 7, but Ren didn’t dismiss Nora’s complement with malicious intent. He did it most likely because he does like Nora he just isn’t confident enough to reciprocate his feelings back, and maybe because he was right when he said “we should probably focus on the mission”. That’s just me tho, I’m sure the Renora ship will be fine, they just need some downtime to discuss their feelings with one another(same with bumbleby)

I adore these two. You mentioned about what Vine and Elm's inspiration could be and I wonder if you are right and that they are married. With Elm being "brave and youth!" plus Nora going "wanna be friends" and Vine not getting the "freshmeat" joke like Ren, I wonder if they are meant to be an older Renora mirror. I think Ren probably doesn't know how to do relationships since he was orphaned so young and likely never had dated so this is all new and he already wasn't very expressive in how he feels in general like Nora does. I think seeing Elm and Vine make it work, could be the confidence he needs to try versus possibly being scared about messing up and worry he'd ruin his friendship. (I say possibly because we haven't heard Ren's p.o.v. on this but it seems like that is the idea they are going with.)

I know for a fact I’m not the only one, but I have a different take on a popular ReNora theory. I feel like CRWBY are trying to emotionally distance Ren and Nora so there’s a dramatic moment when they face Tyrian again. I know that most people think Nora is going to die, but if that’s the case 1. It would be Nora who is distancing herself if she’s going to save Ren and get poisoned herself 2. They would be able to get help. I mean Qrow was alive for at least a day before it got critical and needed a hospital for any hope of survival, and they’re currently IN Atlas, so I think whoever it was would be alright. Unless tyrians poison has a type of after effect on certain people. Here’s my hypothesis: The gang is fighting off Tyrian and a bunch of those flying monkeys that Salem made. While Ren is distracted, maybe Nora is facing off some of the monkeys. Then, Ren turns around and sees Tyrian, purple-eyed, looking at Nora, and instantly panic sets in. The thought of losing Nora, who had been with him through thick and thin, and was now in mortal danger scares him more than anything. You can probably see where I’m going with this. Ren charges forward, calling out to Nora, who turns around. But too late, Tyrian has turned his attention to Ren, and plunges his stinger into his chest. Ren falls on The floor, deeply wounded. Nora full on freaks out at Tyrian, and is able to hit him away. She frantically rushes over to see him dying, unconscious. She calls out for Jaune, who attempts to stabilise him with his semblance, but he can’t. They then rush back to Atlas to try and get help. Ren survives, but is still in a critical condition. The poison was implanted close to his heart, and now it’s embedded, and his heart just keeps reproducing it. And I don’t know how to finish this. Excuse me while I return to the ninth circle of hell. 👋

I'm pretty sure that's the case with a lot of kid characters in animation. Women can get a lot closer to a little boy sound than most men can.

@@matthewwylie2735 I would say 1 in every 20 young boys voiced by women actually sound like young boys, and not adult women trying to sound like young boys. It's horrendously immersion-breaking. It's hard for me to appreciate that episode of RWBY at all because it's just so impossible to believe Ren's voice as a young boy. And it's like well-written scenes, so I want to love seeing this backstory, but it's just not believable.
