If it is a neutral grey it will take on the colors of the room and the light in it. The color looks green because of the paint color in the room in which it was prepped and the mix of blue window light and yellow-orange work lights. In spite if that, Team Phillipp! (Sorry Anna!)

DONT TOUCH IT! Leave it as it is. Its ok to NOT have everything matchy matchy! Its deep colour is within the same tonal family. Its a work of art and if it's a slightly different colour and it stands out then that's perfect! Great job on refinishing the tub. Move the tub into the master bathroom before making the final decision on the color. Observe the tub over several days in the different daylight that comes in the windows, and at night under the bathroom lights. Remember Phillip, Happy Wife! Happy Life!

I believe the grey-black of the bathtub is called "charcoal". Also Philip, I have to side with Anna on the charcoal paint, for one simple reason: in most lights it looks black anyway but unlike black, it won't constantly attract a layer of dust. Charcoal is a bit kinder on the cleaning/cleanliness angle. I should know - we have a black-only furniture scheme (with wood) on one side of our home and we appreciate the obviousness of the dust gathered and attracted on our furniture as it forces us to clean it more. Not something you want to think about in a bathroom 😉

I have worked in many ways with colours in many years, … Anna’s choices of colour are always excellent. For this particular project, I agree that black is elegant, classic, chic, etc but when you imagine this bath tub in its final setting black will be a heavy and bold colour that won’t easily blend with other things around it. In this project greyish colours are better! They seem neutral and easily match the setting without disturbing the harmony.

Agree. This whole chateau is soft and feminine. The dark gray is a slightly softer hue than black. More complimentary to the subtle femininity. Black-black would be traditional but too strong.

Honestly I think black BUT I would have painted the legs a brass color. If I were painting it for my personal tub I would have painted it a Copper color with brass colored legs. But Phillip did an amazing job refurbishing the tub. I have an old heavy enamel kitchen sink I have to re-do so he’s given me motivation. Great job! If you leave it gray it’s not the end of the world. Anna, I love how you can scold in such a kind way it makes one feel guilty but not mad. lol

Team Anna, the Lamp Black is softer and more elegant, you have the darkness without the starkness. It also fits well with the blue walls in the suite. Black will be a short lived fashion, a charcoal grey is more classic, in keeping with the style of the rest of the chateau, a beautiful blend of classic and contemporary xx

Phillip did a spectacular job on the tub : D I remember the first one was a struggle, and I so admired his determination to get it right. And the tub turned out perfect! Whenever I feel frustrated over a job, I remember all of the DYJs Phillip was doing, never ever backing off and giving it to someone else to do. The tub color looks fine, it really does. I love putting gold leaf on everything, and would probably do that to the legs. Can't wait to see it in the bathroom!

The “black” looks good to me. On my TV it actually has a bit of a purplish tone to it which looks lovely. I think you may be seeing the green from the walls. It looks to ma like you did a great job on the tub. Good job Philip!

Well done you two! I would never have considered taking on a bathtub renovation but maybe would now. Phillip you have got to trust Anna’s taste. She is usually spot on (I won’t say always because I don’t want to hurt your feelings). This episode made me feel like there is some tension between you two so sort it out, please 🙏 isn’t it enough that you married well Phillip and have two beautiful children, and got to renovate a chateau and got a boat and are multilingual, have a brilliant sense of humour and an international waste pipe influencer? My father bought an old cast iron claw tub he converted to a love seat. My sister made the cushions for it. I loved it! It had the claw feet on it also. I think claw foot tubs are beautiful!
