Yes! You could one day change it all again

you can definitely sand back a stained wood to it's natural colour. Specially if it's oil base, the stain sits on the surface of the wood. It's not absorbed deep under the surface. A medium grit (80-100) and a bit of elbow grease or an orbital sander will do the job.

Sailboat owner here! I definitely would not want to paint that beautiful wood vanity base either (Benoit is a true craftsman!). I highly recommend a few coats Epifanes Clear Gloss Varnish (which is really polyurethane) to waterproof it (and as a bonus has UV protection, since the bathroom has a lot of natural light), followed by a few coats of Epifanes Wood Finish Matte on top to tone done the gloss (which is brilliant because you do not have to sand between coats if you reapply within 72 hours.) It's made for boats, and a great product!

I’d bring in the other bathroom elements before deciding about staining the vanity or not. Even laying things (like the faucets, the marble, the paint options, the hardware, the mirrors, the light fixtures, etc) out before installation could be helpful in deciding what you like best. Wood is so beautiful that it is always tempting to leave it natural, but Benoit’s craftsmanship will shine regardless.

The more modern Matisse print looks wonderful for a headboard. I would use the 2 tone as throw pillows and put some linen colored fringe around the edges - maybe add a Ziggy color into the throw pillows to coordinate? Love the aesthetic of the room so far. 🥰 And that vase with all the holes is one of my favorites because you can put wrapped bunches of blossoms in each hole and it looks fabulous and the stems stay upright.

I think a pale turquoise to complement the bedroom ...just 10-20 shades lighter for the bathroom paint...like the Aegean Sea in the shallows. A marine theme with seashells around and marine rope around mirrors and maybe some furniture would make Phillip happy too! A painting with seagulls flying over a sailboat on the ocean & surf in the foreground would make him super happy I'd wager.

Haha love Anna's "are these really ugly or kind of cool" -that's exactly all of us at the brocante! You already have the checkboard floor, the shower tile, the mirror... lots of elements.

The ceramic piece you picked up at about minute 12:30 has the shape of a cántaro, from Spain. Cántaros have a hole to put water and one to pour the water, it´s purpose is to keep water cool under the sun. The one you picked up has many holes to pour water, in my opinion it´s what the ceramist did inspired in a cántaro. I would buy it in a heartbeat and use it to display flowers.

Ana, I LOVE that you're designing your fabric. You are my hero. I can never find the fabric designs ( that are in my head) anywhere and it's so frustrating. I started to create my own in a much, much more simplified way (stencils & fabric paint) not nearly as creative as your designs, but still, it was fun & satisfying. My vote on the headboard fabric was for the darker one.
@gnarbeljo89806 ай бұрын
The fabric tests turned out beautifully! Which is best for the headboard depends on how you plan to dress your bed really. I think perhaps I'd go with the two tone fabric which is a less graphic and has more depth, and add two large throw cushions in the simpler print. Bc matching the whites to your bedlinnen perfectly can be tricky if you like white sheets. Thats pattern is very versatile. You could easily make a version for every season, including an autumnal colorway with some "Ziggy" in it. (suddenly I hear Will Smith singing "getting Ziggy with it" lol 😂) I'd buy that fabric in a heartbeat in a green or ochre colorway. The lighter fabric would look fabulous as a lage table cloth in your dining room too in a different colorway. Perhaps a copper-ish line on a cool grey? Benoît's carpentry is beautiful! What a unique piece! I'd be very reluctant to paint it, it's too finely made, show it off! A good hardwax-oil would be lovely, condition and protect the wood, only give a slight silken sheen, let it age naturally. As your tub isn't really black but a grey tone, it will look better than all black and be more interesting, personal. I prefer when interiors aren't too matchy matchy. It creates layers and various places for the gaze to rest when a scheme isn't worked out at first glance. Also the natural wood is a lovely material to tie in with items such as a nice natrual bristle wooden back brush, a loofa, a basket organizer, maybe wooden hooks somewhere. The color of the vanity wood will deepen over time. Which is really part of the exclusivity of natural materials, and the story of the space. And you can always change your mind and paint or stain it later down the line if you want. Wall color feels less precious thinking of the end result with everything in place and up and running. The right mirror at the right price will come to you. I think coming home from a flea market with a couple of pottery pieces is great. There's a certain satisfaction in NOT collecting knick-knacks that really don't add value. You guys are reallt good at focusing on priorities and keeping your space airy, breathable, not weighed down with "stuff". Great vlog! ❤

I prefer the second more simple print for the headboard because it seems more modern. To me, the other one seems a bit outdated when used on such a large scale. No matter what you decide for the headboard, I agree wholeheartedly that Ziggy's fur color looks amazing with the wall color. I was immediately imagining a leather chair (or bench or sofa etc.) with such similar color.... Maybe you could also decide on the headboard and a leather piece together, i.e. a more modern leather piece with the first fabric sample (leaning more vintage) vs. a vintage looking leather piece with the second fabric sample (leaning more modern) and possibly a cushion or throw blanket with the busier print on the leather piece.
