This one of the few dorm rooms that actually looks realistic!!! The common areas are usually really put together since the furniture is from the University & there are custodial services. Also, I agree. I wish we got A LOT more swatches for beds. Usually dorms supply your bed, desk, and dresser. So I wish we had a lot of different colored sheets & pillows with the same bed frames...

It would be so cool if you could build a two story dorm. The first floor with a cafeteria and the common rooms and the second floor with the bedrooms. Kind of what the James Turner did

you're right about the one minifridge per dorm thing! a lot of my friends shared a minifridge with their roommates. my roommate and i texted each other beforehand in order to coordinate furniture, i ended up bringing a kettle and a trash bin and she brought the bags :)

When I slightly renovated this, I added a laundry area. You know, like how you put your quarters in the machine and it washes your clothes? I felt that added some “personality” to the dorms and made it more realistic. Note it is kinda hard to get your clothes done before class ;-;.

First off, get well soon, Dawn. I saw that comment you talked about. It was such a cool idea. The dorm I was about to live in when I was 15 is like Discover University, the kitchen is right across - I like it cause kitchen noise plus students chatting whilst eating. I like a li'l bit of challenge in The Sims 4 every now and then. I watch Aveline everyday so I recognize that song. I 💙 you both.

I went to a state university. We had a TINY dorm kitchen that honestly no one ever used. Like occasionally we made grilled cheese or like a Kraft mac n cheese but it was rarely used. One time a group of guys totally got in trouble for plucking a duck in the kitchen. We weren't allowed to use any appliance aside from the school supplied micro-fridge unit in the dorms. Things are super super strict in campus housing. The apartments were even strict.

My sim is at university for the first time and I tried putting a stove, I was so upset that I couldn’t add one. But with snowy escape I was able to put a hot pot! So that’s a great alternative if you still want a way to cook in your dorm.

I really like the dorm you made! I do understand their thinking behind not allowing a stove, but the more gameplay I see the more I think you need either a mini fridge in your room or that cafeteria object somewhere in the dorms, because unless you like only take 2 classes without having any jobs or joining organisations there is NO WAY your Sim has time to go eat in the Commons at least once a day. I rather the Commons be a great study spot and have computers and research machines so you'll end up taking your Sim to the commons to do homework and work on assignements or for organisation meet ups and stuff, that way you'll still meet new Sims. From my personal experience here in Germany I've never met someone that lived in dorms that had no stoves (I lived in my flat off campus, but friends lived in 3 different kinds of dorms my uni had), and we still ended up in the cafeteria and then the café to eat and hang out or study afterwards often enough. But cooking for yourself and doing your own laundry, it just seems like such an important part of growing up, even when you go to uni or especially when you do (finding laundry machines that aren't occupied or broken etc.; people eating your leftover noodles...). So I hope someone will create a mod so I can have a more European uni experience in this English-style world of Britechester. And I think I'll reno at least one dorm to have single bedrooms with their own little bathrooms (or take yours or Ashley's or Kayla's renos and change them up) so it compares more to what I'm used to. P.S. just realised, when I studied abroad in China the student dorms didn't have kitchens either, but they also had like 4-6 people in one room and usually one bathroom/laundry room for the entire floor and there were at least 6 different cafeterias all over the place, so I think it also depends on how much space there is and how easily available on campus cafeteria is...

Great build! I lived in a dorm building that had a common kitchen for everyone to use. Granted we all had meal plans, but I did use it once or twice, so it would have been nice to be able to use stoves in the dorms!

I love your decorating! I don’t mean to sound critical, I just wish the rooms were more uniform with the furniture. In reality mostly everyone would have the exact same furniture except those few extra people who bring their own mattress and stuff. I like your layout more than others I’ve seen, so I would love to see a majority of the University pack used for furniture in the rooms since it’s the new one.

This is probably the most realistic dorm I've seen. My dorms were literally white stone walls with linoleum flooring in the actual rooms and then carpeting and stone walls everywhere else. No stoves in mine, so I can see where Sims was coming from. We were only allowed a mini fridge and microwave so...

I went to a state university. My dorm had one dingy stove in the basement commons of the building. No one used it because the room was creepy. 😂 but my dorms both had cafeterias attachesd to the buildings.

This is really pretty but I will definitely put down a cafeteria thingy. I get that they want us to explore and go out but my laptop is not the best so every loading screen is kinda dangerous and could crash the whole game. So having a loading screen every time my sim needs food? Not a good idea at all. But I really like the build💖

There is ZERO privacy in community style dorms 😭😭!! If you get up at 8am, there are another 15 girls in there with you. Showers are EXACTLY like this. Lmao. The bathroom was EXACT. The trauma.... community bathrooms was the worst part of living in dorms!!

Up until this video, I had been wondering if you had been to/stayed in a dorm before. From the ones I've been to here in the states, no, stoves or a normal kitchen are something I've never seen. Even some of my friends staying in dorms now have said that they are limited on what small appliances they are allowed to have, like no toasters. It all comes down to being a fire hazard for the building and for the students.
