Thank you for the video. I was talking with a friend about the criticism we reptile keepers get in the last time. People see reptiles with the eyes of a human and are not able to understand that these animals live in a complete different world. It appears to me they think if anything is not suitable for a human it can't be suitable for a reptilian. I don't know where this leads to.

It’s very sad. I talked to one of the Animal inspectors (NVWA) who was learning about reptiles. He told me that he had trouble understanding why people would keep a spider as a pet. What is the fun in that? I explained that our love for these animals does not always come from 2 sides. We love the beauty and we love them for what they are. Some can be tame and friendly and some never will. I have soms monitor lizards who are the sweetest. I also have one giant asshole that sometimes is very nasty to me. Still I love him for what he is. I love to see when he is happy. Enjoying his enclosure. It would make me very sad if something bad happend to him. I told him about a friend who had a spider for many many years. He loved that spider even do he had bairly any visical contact. Then the spider died of old age and my friend was very very upset. (This is the short version) This inspector told me he never looked to it from that angle. And he really understand it better now. The female inspector told me she will by a tegu from me in the future. She always wanted one.

I think one point is most people think they are open minded but still they think in boxes: There are animals for use as food, animals that make good pets and animals that are disgusting. They don't know how wrong they are. We have a dog, she is not a real pet more like a family member of course. We love her and she loves us. I would say the relationship between man and dog is so strong since many thousand years it is more like a symbiosis. But nevertheless as a pet there are many reptilian that make better pets than a dog. It is easier to give them a great life and easier to treat a dog wrong. I see so many dogs that are behaviorally disturbed day by day

Houten looks wonderful. I was at snake day and thankfully nothing was openly handled as a criminal enterprise. I wish that the general public was not so swayed by the masses of unfounded propaganda coming from Animal Rights Activists
