Good work on laying out all of this information. I had been looking for several years to go to Turkey and was always glad when I saw the housing was so reasonable. Now that I am finally on my way things have gone crazy. Like you said though, not just in Turkey but housing world wide has gone through the roof. I only wish my income had too.

Sorry to hear that. I think you can still find something for your budget. Outside of tourist season and further from the sea.

I was living in Turkey 5 years ago and my house in Konyaalti was 800 lira per month for(250$), recently my father asked to look for him a nice place to rent and when I took a look on the prices, my mouth was just open for 10 minutes. Nothing less than 10000 lira even for a 1+1. Antalya is good but doesn’t worth that much. I suggest them to look for it in Izmir
@OlgaProGoingPlaces2 жыл бұрын
yes, Izmir has lower prices for now. I published some videos from there recently and will also do a video of residential area with prices. But it might not be the best city for a retirement. Something like Fethiye or Alanya is better, but probably also high prices there now. It might change within a year or so.

Olga, definitely good work and your videos are really good and informative; I'm quite surprised by the price jump, I'm retiring in a few years and I thought I would spend a few years in retirement, for example, in a beautiful Turkey, and not in overpriced Central Europe (I'm from the Czech Republic) but now I really do not know? ... by the way, as a tourist I'm going to Istanbul in May and looking forward to the city ...

If I buy Lira in Sterling and the Lira is falling then my Sterling buys more Lira. So if the price of the apartments or living goes up through inflation as I believe it is, would not this increase in the amount of Lira for Sterling off set this inflation. Eg: September last year the exchange was 12.5 Lira per 1 GBP. Now in April it is 19 Lira per 1 GBP.

*****Question, please, Olga***** I have been a long time admirer of your talent and work. So I come to you even though this question may not be your area of specialty. Here it is... many of your viewers are retirees, such as myself. Personally I cannot think of staying in North America. I am on a small budget but even more than basic cost of living, I am, like many concerned about Health Insurance and health care. Do you have any experience or thoughts on this? As a westerner, perhaps my expectations are too high, but I am seeking a country with socialized medicine so that services will be provided without being financially destroyed. Any suggestions, based on your vast knowledge? Thank you for your time. You are amazing.

Hi, Olga. If I rent out an Airbnb for 12 months, can I notarize this to apply foor a 1 year visa? Or do you recommend for me to use Sahihbinden (but im worried I'll get scammed for trying to rent out a 12 month property)
@OlgaProGoingPlaces2 жыл бұрын
you have to have a contract in Turkish and go to notary in Turkey with the owner. Not every owner wants to do this and you have to agree on it beforehand. I would use sahibinden and agree on payments month by month.

Turkey is not the best place in the world. Turks need to understand the reason foreigners move to Turkey is cheap housing in US dollar terms. If the rents keep going up like crazy they will go elsewhere. Foreigners are not going to compensate for your high inflation rate.
@OlgaProGoingPlaces2 жыл бұрын
Life is not black and white like that. And as a person born in a country with a very unstable currency I can understand the struggles Turkish people are going through at the moment. Imagine you do the same job as the other person, but your salary is 150% of what they make, and then suddenly their salary drops 50% and yours stay the same. And then he comes to your home and goes to expensive restaurants while you barely have enough money for food. I am oversimplifying and exaggerating, but that's how Turkish people must be feeling.
