Great video. I have rented DVC points for my last 3 trips and love it. I follow about 3 different sites to see what’s available. I have found this is the “best bang for your buck”. For a little extra money I get the deluxe hotel perks vs booking a moderate hotel through Disney. I agree you do have to be flexible though. You almost have to see what’s available vs trying to give them your own dates.

Great point you made there right at the end of your comment. I wasn't even thinking about that in terms of flexibility, but it's so true!

We paid cash through Disney for Bay Lake Tower in 2022, and our housekeeping was standard DVC housekeeping, as far as I recall. Perhaps it was a post-Covid difference, but we definitely still only had one "true" mousekeeping service on day 4. We had a great time, and we absolutely expected the "DVC differences" going into it because we've seriously researched DVC for years already and are looking forward to becoming members in the future. But it was very similar to, if not the same as, DVC membership stays.

Interesting! My understanding is that you should only be getting limited housekeeping when staying on points. . . . then again, you might be right, 2022 could have still been that "covid policy" time frame. I honestly can't remember when they started to move back to more traditional mousekeeping schedules.

@@2foolishmortals I think it may depend on the resort too. I stayed at Animal Kingdom Jambo house last year and Boardwalk in Feb and housekeeping was as you said but Grand Floridian was not. I was there last month in a resort studio and housekeeping checked with us everyday to see if we needed anything . I was definitely spoiled by the Grand Floridian and am probably going to have a hard time staying at another resort.

I looked into renting DVC points for a stay at Contemporary for Nov. 2024....the no cancellation thing is what made me change my mind. We ended up booking through Disney to stay at Boardwalk and with the discount for that time and the included park hopper tickets the DVC rental at Bay Lake would have only saved us $200 compared to what we are paying to stay at Boardwalk with tickets & park hopper. I know... difference in location, but both Deluxe Resorts and the ability to cancel in case of emergency is worth the extra $$ to me. Your videos are very informative, to the point, light hearted and fun (counting pumpkins in MK LOL) and I really enjoy them. Keep up the great work!

You got $200 worth of value out of that. Other than being walking distance to Magic Kingdom, Boardwalk is a better resort than Bay Lake Tower in nearly every way. In my opinion.

This right here is EXACTLY why it's so important to do your research and crunch numbers for yourself! I have to say too, @RoastBeefSandwich is 100% on this one! Boardwalk is DEFINITELY worth the extra $200, in my opinion. It's such a great location! PS: Thanks! I'm so glad you enjoy what we're doing here. 😄❤️

Thanks! Yeah, its a LOT easier to bet better sound when I'm just sitting and holding the mic. We do our best when we are walking around the park, but it gets SO LOUD in places it can be challenging to get the clarity we're looking for.

It's crazy.. I can book the boardwalk with the 30% off deal cheaper then renting points but bay lake tower is way cheaper renting dvc points. You really have to do your homework to get the best deal.

Absolutely! You gotta take the time to look into it!

We started renting points a couple years ago and it works really well for us. But people do need to be aware of the drawbacks as you lay out. We booked Boardwalk for next spring and, even if we assume an AP discount, renting points saves us more than $200 a night. Savings really add up over a week or more. It's still not cheap though :)

We rented points in Jan 2024 at Boardwalk and while I was nervous, it turned out to be an excellent choice. We'll do it again! The hotel (vs motel) experience, proximity to parks, resort atmosphere, and ease of transportation were all worth making our own beds and hanging our wet towels.
@2foolishmortals2 ай бұрын
Boardwalk, and all the resorts in that immediate area to include the Swan & Dolphin, are a great choice. Can't beat that location IMO.

Any suggestions on travel insurance companies that do cover dvc rentals? And suggestions on dvc rental sites? There seem to be 3 top condentenders but I have found a few others that might just be new but also could be a scam?
@2foolishmortalsАй бұрын
Unfortunately, I don't have any recommendations when it comes to travel insurance that would cover this type of thing. I just don't have the experience to give you a good recommendation. For DVC Rental sites. . . . we did a bunch of looking into different companies and didn't find any that we felt good about. My best suggestion is to do your research and go with your gut. I know that's probably not the recommendation you're looking for, but it's the best we've got. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. 😞

Is it possible to have a dvc account and not be a member?
@2foolishmortals2 ай бұрын
Hmm. . . that's a good question. What I can tell you is that DVC, like other things you do with Disney, is accessed through your MyDisney login. Whether or not your login will work without a DVC Membership that belongs to you OR you're associated with, I'm not sure. I can tell you that if you are an "Associate" on a Membership [which means you can manage it without it actually belonging to you] you will have access to your own DVC account so that you can see and manage it. I'm not sure how that would work if you don't have any membership in association with you though. You can always try and find out for yourself! Good luck! 😄
