As a house owner I have been at the receiving end of the worst damages done to my rented house. Bachelors are the worst, they say 4/5 PPL will stay but end up having 10 -15 PPL staying my own personal experience, and not to forget the damage they do . They literally destroy the place . Plus suddenly they announce that they want to vacate in a month. Any idea how hard it is to renovate and paint the house , find labourers to get the work done. Hence we ask for so much proof. There have been many cases where the Tennants have created enough shenanigans.. I agree 30 % hike is too much . 5% increase should be an agreeable amt. Get everything documented in the agreement before hand. Not all owners are the same similarly not all tenant are . Don't just typecast on a whole !!!

As I lost my son in an accident that house was more dear to me n the house owner tried to play with my emotions agreeing to give house for exorbitant rent. I was ready for that as well but they wanted cash n for making agreement they were not ready to give pan# or Aadhar# thatz when I finally decided to leave with broken heart. But believe me I went ahead n purchased a house at the age of 65L in the same locality. Atleast a place where my son used to b. If you go through brokers, 99% of time you get trapped in over priced accomodations. But most people coming from outside dont want peaceful traditional localities. They want to be around bustling localities with pubs and fancy restaurants at walkable distance. These are highly commercial areas where living cost itself is 4x with poor living standards and overcrowding. Then they come on the internet and rant. You choose bad you get bad.

When i lived in Banglore the owner and I signed an agreement and it's normal and there will be an increase of 5% in rent after one year but jokes on me he increases it in 5 months and when i asked him why he told me to if i can't pay it move out of the house. I was a student and there was no way I am going to go through the house hunting again. And after some years when i was planning to leave he cut all of my money and gave only 6k deposit back ( i gave him 30k deposit) and i had a huge fight with him and i shifted to a pg and after someday he called again and asked me about the electricity money. I told him that I can buy a flat and pay this much as EMI he said it is a better decision if I can offord. I absolutely agree. As it is mentioned in one of the comments regarding know which areas to rent, even if you rent a little far away the rates mentioned in Bangalore will only be available outside the Mumbai Sub-urban area or areas with pretty dainty houses. The redevelopment projects has driven the rent prices exponentially.

Left 2bhk 1 week ago. Landlord looked at few chipped color spots and some garbage amd said he can't return the deposit as it will cost him as maintenance. I'm glad I left the city.

We don't rent out to girls because they clog the drain with hair We don't rent out to boys because they break stuff We don't rent out to bachelor's because they party You have to pay for the same maid who we have You have to pay water bill based on how many people visit you Deposit we will give when we check everything and you handover the keys to us (usually deducts half) And yes, they want cash and will not give PAN number

I'm a muslim bachelor with 2 dogs. Most landlords don't want pets, many prefer families over bachelors no matter how mature you are (i'm 40 and running a startup in HSR), a surprisingly large number of Hindu landlords just say "no muslims" outright.. and the few muslim landlords out there wonder why a muslim man is living with 2 dogs (hint-non practicing) If not for friends.. I'd be homeless right now.

Planning to setup operations in Gujarat insted. Most probably in Ahmedabad or Gandhinagar. Other towns are quite orthodox and over religious. But still better than b'lore..

Omg... I am Bangalorean by birth, we never paid like this. Ours is a 4 bhk , 30 40 site duplex house with modular kitchen etc etc. single house in that site, 35 k rent. Y do u go to the outskirts, main Bangalore people live in the middle of Bangalore, u people go to non kannadiga people who own properties here... Tenants change the rent based on your origin if you are a north indian they usually increase rent, and as high influx of IT employees to a particular area they demand huge rents, One thing to do is you can always find a very affordable house in banglore at a nearby place where more employees dont stay, for example if you want to rent at Whitefield it will cost you more but if you just skip to the other nearby areas which are unknown or there is less demand you can get affordable rents.

It's not worse..we got the 1st one last year in April and still staying in the same. It's 10% hike every 11 months as mentioned in agreement. Landlord stick to it. Maintenance is 3.7k and rent 40k. 2bhk near Marathahalli bridge..it all depends on Landlord in the end. He asked only where do we work, he means location and took our aadhar copies. That's it. No other interference 😊

Renting in Bangalore becomes much easier if you have a person who speaks kannada or atleast take your colleague with you for rent negotiations or even to stay your life becomes easier. It's easy if you know kannada.
