This was interesting to me because I am in the seaweed farming business and am constantly driving in my 1988 model Suzuki Katana "Jip" around Bali and adjacent Islands, checking in at various losmen or hotels as available. I have considered converting my Nissan Evalia van into a configuration such as you had in the similarly sized Daihatsu (parent company Toyota BTW). First, though, I have built a nine-meter, shoal-draft , live-aboard motor-sailer boat for travel among seaweed farm sites and will use the little Suzuki as a mobile shore base ... possibky to be augmented by the camper van in due course. Your video is prompting us in that direction and it as a way of seeing Bali and neighboring islands that could appeal to many people, especially to domestic Indonesian travellers wanting an in-depth way of knowing their marvellous country.

when u arrive in Surabaya (suramadu bridge), and try to reach Malang, they have nice places to explore such as Bromo (mountain for sunrise) or BNS or Zoo ... Yogyakarta, try to visit Merapi (mountain), it has jeep adventure and ofc malioboro and Borobudur / Prambanan (temple) Bandung, visit Lembang (Great Asia Afrika, Floating Market, Tangkuban Perahun mountain) or ciwidey (Kawah putih - mountain, Pinisi Resto Boat)

Yay! Alex is driving! How did it feel to be driving on the 'wrong' side of the road in comparison to US? My other half is an American, he isn't crazy driving here in M'sia. Nice video. Rp500rb is a great deal considering you're getting a set of wheels and accommodation. What's the deal with accidents? Is the vehicle insured? We live in Jakarta and drove to Bali back in November. Ubud was like a ghost town which suited us but we couldn't help feeling for the Balinese as they are so dependent on tourism. I'm a Brit but have lived here in Indonesia for 23 years. My own personal favourite places so far are Ijen and Tanah Toraja. You don't need a guide to see Ijen but I would really recommend that you try and find one of the local porters/miners to accompany you. Their stories are incredible. Heartbreaking yet inspiring at the same time. Tanah Toraja has incredible customs particularly relating to death. Treating dead relatives as though they are still alive, hollowing out huge rocks to use as burial places, burying dead babies inside trees and digging up dead family members every few years to offer them food, cigarettes and dress them in new clothes. Well worth checking out particularly if you're lucky enough to visit when there's a big funeral. Sounds morbid but it's fascinating. And again, this is a place where a good guide is worth having otherwise you won't understand half of what's going on.
