Fifty six years playing guitar, a professional musician/artist for fifty four years, I can say with authority that I’ve seen it all! I personally know and traveled with a couple of Rock Superstars, and know a few great Jazz musicians too, my point is that I know musicianship and artistry pretty well. I discovered this great band, The REO Brothers here on KZbin, and I was immediately amazed by what they do and how they do it. I’ve seen many of their videos, in their studio to live concerts from when they were young to now, and the magic of their music was there right from the start. This musicians are great! Let me tell you why: The songs that they cover, were done by the greatest Artists and song writers of my generation, and they were recorded by some of the greatest musicians and producers of that time, see (The Wrecking Crew and others) and this band can replicate the sound and vibe and mind you! the little musical motifs of every song/hit that they play with incredible accuracy, tone and rhythm while doing it live and with PASSION! This day began for me with The Sounds Of Silence done by them. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🎼🎶🎵🎸🎸🎸🥁🎹🎤🎤🎤🎤🎵🎶🎼

Having lived in the Philippines for nine years and having lots and lots of Filipino friends, I can only say this: Nobody is better at imitating others than Filipinos! That is said with admiration. Filipinos take great pride in their ability to copy others down to the most minute detail. Well done.

Many people don't realize that the acoustic version of The Sound of Silence originally flopped and wasn't popular. It was only after they released a version like this with a full band backing the vocals that the song became a chart-topper.
@BuckForearm4 жыл бұрын
Andrew E And the funny thing is the record company producer added the extra instruments without the knowledge of Simon and Garfunkel. As a matter of fact Paul Simon was horrified when he first heard the remix. But once it gained popularity it was a different story.

I just discovered you guys & hearing your covers. I'm so impressed. You manage to capture the original feel of each song you cover. And this is a true example of that. I turned my wife on to you guys. The Beatles are her all time favorite band. This song has special meaning for me, hearing it constantly echo through the house when I was about 4 years old. It's definitely a part of my childhood "soundtrack". Thanks for doing it such excellent justice. 😊 Fun fact... did you know this started off as a straight acoustic song on the "Wednesday Morning 3AM" album. It started getting radio airplay with so many requests. They took the same recording & added a 12 string guitar, drums, etc. & was rereleased. Also the song "Wednesday Morning 3AM" was the extremely mellowed out original version of "Somewhere, They Can't Find Me". Hearing it as a soft love ballet really makes it sound off. But it's interesting to hear where it came from. I'm looking forward to hearing what's next. Thanks, Guys. David G.

gil lehrer I don’t think they can read music sheets because none of them were formally trained in Music due to their economic status. RJ (the lead guitar player) taught himself to play the drums, guitar and keyboards some 10 years ago. He then passed those along to his siblings. They learn these songs, I think mostly by ‘ear’. In the Philippines, where they’re from it is called “uwido”. If you can play by ear, you can play anything. In other words, they are ‘fiddlers’ as opposed to trained violinists. Going back to your question, yes I think IMHO they can.
