Sina, this is actually Alan Gratzer! REO's manager Tom Consolo sent me this link. You really nailed it! I wish my drums sounded this good when I recorded this track @ 1978. Your meter is impeccable and so are your chops. One thing I always regretted is that track really needed the kick to be up a bit in the mix so all those trip beats would be accentuated, but it got buried in the mix. One of the comments was that this person wanted your ride to be closer to you wouldn't be stressing your rotator cuff. Coincidentally, in the last three years I've had shoulder surgery on both shoulders so maybe there's something to it! That guy must be an orthopaedist! Anyway, keep on doing what you're doing. This was a lovely tribute which I appreciated immensely. I'm looking forward now to digging into some of the other stuff you recorded. Cheers, Alan G

Check out her work with Donovan too. With him she is part of a Blues CD and demonstrates a nice change of pace. And speaking of Paice, check out her 'Highway Star'. One of her best performances I think. Be well Alan and again thank you for the music. Part of my youth.

This is what we used to call a freeway song. Imagine an 18 year old kid in a 65 1/2 Ford Mustang GT fastback with a bored out 289 to 301ci motor with a Crane cam, solid lifters TRW rings, bearing and pistons tooling down I-90 from Seattle to Portland Or at about 110mph and you put this tape in (cause that's what we had), to R-E-O, Roll with the changes. The sun is just coming over the Cascade Mountains on your left, there's not another car in sight at 3:45 am. When the tape hits the jam part you stick the stick into a lower gear and JUST STAND ON THE GAS! Holding it there as the miles tick by at about 2 1/2 miles a minute. Thank you for bringing back that memory. Love you.

NO ONE can play this song like Alan Gratzer....EXCEPT for YOU, Sina! EXCELLENT work!! I grew up with REO. I'm from St. Charles, Missouri,and they played all over our " Neighborhood" in the ' 70's and I remember Kevin Cronin, just PRIOR to them hitting it BIG TIME, coming over to our house in the very early ' 70's, to jam with my brother, who casually played guitar at the time and some of his guitarist friends. The said thing is, is at THAT time, I was too young (about 8 y.o.) to realise and appreciate, JUST WHO was in our house but I remember and enjoyed the music and the whole "scene" in general !!

You can rock or you can roll. The tune won't change no matter where the wagon goes! :D THE SONG - "Roll With The Changes" is a song by American rock band REO Speedwagon. It was written by Kevin Cronin (vocals, rhythm guitar, piano) and is the first track on the band's seventh studio album 'You Can Tune a Piano, but You Can't Tuna Fish'. The album was recorded during 1977 and 1978 at Sound City Studios in LA, the Record Plant in LA, and Paragon Recording Studios in Chicago. It was released on Mar 16, 1978 and "Roll With The Changes" was released as a single also in 1978. 'You Can Tune a Piano, but You Can't Tuna Fish' was the band's first Top 40 album. It peaked at #29 on the Billboard 200 album chart on June 17, 1978 and sold over two million copies. "Roll With The Changes" became one of their best known songs. It entered the Billboard Hot 100 on May 13, 1978 at #80 and peaked at #58 on June 10, 1978. It was last seen at #98 on July 22, 1978 after 11 weeks on the chart. It faired somewhat better on the US Cashbox Top 100 chart reaching #48. Cronin had left REO Speedwagon in 1973 due to conflicts with Gary Richrath, the lead guitarist. He returned in 1976 which meant a move from Chicago to LA. According to SongFacts, it was during that trip that he reflected on all the changes in his life and was inspired to write the lyrics for "Roll With The Changes" on a brown paper bag as he was driving! REO successfully transitioned to MTV. Kevin Cronin told SongFacts, "The record company sent a film crew out, and they wanted to film us in soundcheck, doing "Roll With The Changes", "Time for Me to Fly", and a couple of songs from that album. And we didn't really know why, because back in those days, we would do TV shows like 'Midnight Special' and 'Don Kirshner's Rock Concert'. That was really how rock bands got on TV. "We were fortunate. Talk about being in the right place at the right time - the 'Hi Infidelity' album was #1 on the Billboard chart when MTV went on the air. So, it was just a no-brainer that our videos were going to get played on MTV, because we had pretty big hits on the radio." REO still tours. Keyboardist Neal Doughty is the only original member from 1967, Kevin Cronin is nearly so having joined the band in 1972. Gary Richrath left the band in 1989. He died on Sept 13, 2015 from complications following stomach surgery. To me, REO Speedwagon is an archetypical 70s rock band - the pounding piano, the driving beat, the distorted guitars and solos, the Hammond organ palm smears and the vocal stylings. They are just pure fun - and that's one reason why many of those bands and songs remain popular to this day. PERSONAL NOTE - Next Thursday is American Thanksgiving. Although not something officially observed in my neck of the woods, my side of the family has always made a big deal out of it and, with my parents not getting any younger, it's a time to try to bring the whole family together. Consequently, I won't have a write-up next week. For those of you celebrating, have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Enjoy the food and your families - and play some music too! Cheers!

As a drummer for over 49 years (started when I was 4), I see plenty of flaws. She does not command the tempo. She doesn't have a good touch or feel or groove. There's a world of difference between having the artistic ability to create a drum part and dictating the tempo, feel, and groove while playing the part you created versus simply smacking the drums around while the tempo is dictated to you (and at many times struggling to maintain the tempo). I've watched a few of her videos and haven't been impressed. Worst one was Rosanna...awful, just awful. I applaud her for playing along to classic rock which has stood the test of time instead of most of the current stuff on the radio today. I know she's young - somewhere in the 17 - 19 age range is what I've seen, but she's below average at best right now. Sorry.

@@johngembka7052 Hey John, do you have as many musical reviews as Sina? did you ever make it as a musician?
@johngembka70524 жыл бұрын
@@lookiloo100 I have neither the time nor interest in posting videos of myself on KZbin playing along to a bunch of random cover tunes. If you believe doing so is any sort of indication that someone has made it in music, then you are ill informed, to say the least. If, however, you believe being able to cover life’s necessities (food, clothing, and shelter) and also provide for extras such as vehicles, vacations, technology, insurance, etc. with income from recording, touring, gigging, writing, teaching, running sound, or some combination thereof, then yes, I have made it in music. I’m certainly not famous or fabulously wealthy, but I am very comfortable. And I’m not ashamed to admit that I am very fortunate to work with musicians who I consider to be of a much higher caliber than myself - I’m talking musicians and vocalists who have gold/platinum albums to their credit and/or been on a Grammy nominated album (but unfortunately didn’t win). But I also know if I didn't have decent chops, I wouldn't be working with them. I’m not saying she sucks or that she should throw her shells and sticks into a fire pit, but it needs work - lots of it. Her skill level is nowhere remotely close the praise and accolades thrown at her by the minions on KZbin. On her best day, she is average, and most typically below average. I have a few students in the 15 - 17-year-old age range who would eat her lunch. Her meter is typically all over the place - ahead of the beat, on the beat, behind the beat, or waffling somewhere in-between. She obviously has tremendous passion for her instrument, but her feel for most songs I’ve watched just isn’t there. I don’t know how any reasonably skilled drummer or bassist wouldn’t feel it. If it’s straight-ahead, four on the floor rock, it’s okay. As soon as something more technical comes into play (Rosanna, Don’t Stop Believin’, Tom Sawyer, Subdivisions, etc.), it’s awful. If it was a live situation instead of a controlled environment where the work has already been done for her, it would be a train wreck.

Wow Sina this is one epic performance to cover . Always loved this song . One of the most underrated songs in classic rock in my opinion. My daughter is going to play this at her student concert this year . She will be ending the student concert off so it’s a big deal. Im glad we found your video so she can study you . Excellent drummer! ❤️☮️

Sina perfect one of my all-time favorites. Sina do you know old people still have fantasies and my fantasy is being the guitarist at a gig at Madison Square Garden‘s and you’re the drummer it would truly be an honor to do a gig with the best drummer of all time hey don’t take any negative comments the thumbs down personal they don’t understand what you’re doing behind the drums only a true musician really understand what you’re doing behind your drum set how great you are how amazingly talented you are perhaps maybe the best drummer of all time and you’re so damn young what are you gonna create and accomplish in your life I hope I live long enough to see it remember clean living don’t let any relationships bog you down keep pressing forward you got something special going on I just can’t tell you what a joy it is to watch you young lady I really appreciate what you’re doing

Ok, so I have been following you for 2, maybe 3 years now? (I'm not really sure and don't want to try and figure it out.) I have never commented on any of your videos before this but as REO Speedwagon is second only to Led Zeppelin on my all time favorite bands (yes I know, a strange jump) I just had to chime in. I am behind on a number of things on the internet, your videos being one of them (I'm usually at work when your videos get posted and I can't take time out to really watch and enjoy them there so I end up forgetting to watch them when I get home.) As I said I am a big REO fan and finally found some time to watch a video or two on net, I had to watch this one. I don't know if the orginal drummer for REO played a double bass, but I know the curent one does and despite using only a single yourself I am impressed with how well you make it work and sound (I have seen them multiple times and frequently listen to a live album of there's that I have). Further what I think I enjoyed most about this cover isn't how well you covered it, but watching you play. This song didn't seem to be that difficult for you and yet you seeemed to be enjoying yourself and having more fun playing it than have seen in ANY of your other videos. Keep up the good work and more importantly keep having fun doing it

I tried drumming for a bit, it was fantastic. I bought my pieces from different sources, with an eye to staying on budget, but still getting good equipment. I lived by myself with my dog in a large house with tolerant neighbors. Of course, my playing skills never reached my intended goals, because I had to sell things and move out. Anyway, other than motorcycle riding, playing the drums is the most exhilarating experience I have ever felt.

Wow! You know you have IT when the original drummer for REO Speedwagon posts a public compliment about your drumming on your cover version of the song that he played on.Of course , Alan Gratzer came a little late to the party! Im a hobbyist guitarist not a drummer , but I know enough about classic rock and this song ( im 61 y.o.) to state with confidence that your rhythmic precision and your fills Are really impressive. Bravo! What a great job you have done in this performance 😊❤👍

One thing that Sina continues to prove is that you don't need 2 two bass drums, 20 Toms, and 47 symbols to make great music.

My absolute favorite REO song, and your heavy drums made it even better! Ever since I bought their 8-track in the late 1970's, I always kept this song keyed up when I would hit the California interstate while I was stationed there in the Navy. I would let my 440 V-8 loose and just haul ass! I still do the same in my Hemi Jeep. Great speeding music!

"And then there is something like a girl's mood. Sometimes I'm just up for a song and I'm not so keen on doing another one. I was up for this one, hope that you are too!!" 😃😃😃😃 Indeed Sina I am. This is another one of those songs that is timeless. The guitar licks and Hammond solos are so, so incredible. A real feel good tune that always need to be played at full blast with the windows down! 😃 Great mix here with a really good backing track. Nice yellow top BTW. You look great in it. Hair is getting longer too! :) Side note : I would have liked to see Rick on the Hammond and your Dad slaying the lead. I'm sure they too would have enjoyed it!
