English Lyrics Translation! On the front page of the paper my name’s the headline, And I’m out here to catch your eye, If it ain’t today, then there’s absolutely no way, On the yellow line, dancing away with grinding steps You know the good stuff can’t be tainted, if it’s borrowed that’s points off for originality Knocked down by troubles, I guess the single life is pretty rough, From Omotesando to Shoutou I’m a dancer in the dark, My garbage salary, a monthly crushing defeat, ‘cus I’m still “under construction” Choosiness and the Big City Falling in love with the singing voice on the other side of my earphones, My inferiority complex, pessimism and I wait ‘til tomorrow comes, Even though I know it’s just for a moment, at least in my eardrums, You’ll brighten up this shitty reality, risen above all this Hey, it’s a crazy world out there you know! Fuck off with these sensations and whatnot, Even though your excellence isn’t measured in youth or wealth, You’re hunting for fame, the ostentations of greener grass on the other side Getting decked-out and the Big City Getting straightened out by the screaming voice on the other side of my earphones, Disgust, revulsion, broken self-esteem, self-loathing and I, All these emotions and the “something” I keep holding on to, That you’re in some unreal ideal somewhere, so c’mon please rise above all this! My real thoughts spilled freely in musical notation, my broken self’s last pleas to God The truth is I’m not praying for anything, these bad habits I picked up aren’t going anywhere What art! What music! I sang songs, so what of it? I drew pictures, but they don’t amount to anything so knock it off! What art! What music! What music! What music! What music! What music! Oh, just fuck off! What art! What music! It’s becoming absolutely nothing! You’ve given it value and worth, and yet it wasn’t chosen, Left with longing Falling in love with the singing voice on the other side of my earphones, My inferiority complex, pessimism and I wait ‘til tomorrow comes, Even though I know it’s just for a moment, at least in my eardrums, You’ve brightened up even this shitty reality To the other side of my earphones, for just 3 short minutes, This almighty, revolutionary feeling and I, So whenever I tap one finger on “Play,” You breakthrough this mundane everyday life, With just a single measure, you change this shitty reality And I rose above it all, in my 1LDK.

pardon my very bad Japanese, but that "1LDK" at the end sounds like it actually means something in Japanese? (like wa e di ke?)
@Kasquede5 жыл бұрын
@@moonlitpebbles4778 She is literally saying 1LDK (Wan Eru Di Ke) which is the name of a common style of apartment in Japan that means 1 Bedroom, with a main room for Living Dining and Kitchen (LDK). I believe in a recent interview she mentioned she was surprised people in other countries don't have those styles of apartments or don't call them that!

For those who don't understand what the title means, "1LDK" is a bit of Japanese Real Estate jargon. It refers to a dwelling with a single bedroom, a living room, a dining area and a kitchen, what most Americans might refer to as a One-bed/One-bath, or possibly even a Studio apartment, except that you can get a space without a kitchen or dining area if you don't plan on doing any cooking for yourself (since it can be cheaper to eat out than to cook for yourself in Japan, but that's another thing entirely). Anyway, according to her recent Q&A, the title makes reference to where she practices her craft, where artists like her build their monument, in their own apartments - as opposed to where a studio musician makes their recordings, in a dedicated studio space.
