I installed this system at my house and outbuilding a month ago. Been happy with it. I hid the NVR in the pantry. I didn't want to have a display in there. I had an unused NUC w/ Windows and installed the app on it, then mounted the NUC behind the main TV and connected with HDMI. I used a small wireless keyboard/touchpad combo to complete the setup. If I want to watch the cameras, I just switch to the NUC on the main TV in the house. It's going to be tough to find a better camera system at that price point.

Nice job Travis- quick, clear and concise. After experiencing a failure just last night of my 4 camera Analog NightOwl system - I certainly am considering the Reolink as a possible swap-out solution. I definitely want to take advantage of the break-out capacity of the IP cameras individually!

Thanks! Reolink definitely needs to keep the local control thing going in all models. They leave a lot of money on the table otherwise. If you have any other questions on something let me know as I had way more footage captured of the interface than could make it in the video.

Don't do Reolink... good and cheap, but Dahua or Hikvision with BlueIris are well worth it! Note: I don't have the 4k Reolinks, i guess they are technically 2k (one model before) and they have improved in the 4k. The image quality of the Dahua 1080P Starlights are still way better than the couple 4k Reolinks i have.
@digiblurDIY
@digiblurDIY 4 жыл бұрын
I agree on the BlueIris if you have the knowledge level to do it. Some folks just want a system to plug it in and go. I run some Reolinks and Amcrest cameras on Blue Iris and love it. But with that said was I going to put in Blue Iris at this remote location? Nope. This was the answer based on future support and ease of management by the non techy user. Definitely going to be my go to box I put in for users.

@@marcusone1 I don't have enough processing power to dedicate to BlueIris right now. The nice thing about the NVR is it is reliable, compared to the services I run myself. :) The picture quality on the B800 cameras are incredible!

Have to admit those Cameras look awesome! I install CCTV for a living and I typically use Hikvision and that brand just wants too much for a 5MP IP Camera. My current system on my house is a bunch of leftovers from Customers that have gotten upgraded systems.

Ive been installing for about 13 years and I mostly recommend and install Reolink now, even for med sized businesses. The Hikv cams I use sometimes for one off remote mount or thermal cameras but all the others usually Reolink. Its also notable you will find some similarities between brands because they have the same manufacturer such as Qcam(Amcrest) and Reolink, Sannce and Annke etc.. The vendors I stay away from are Avigilon and Samsung, overpriced even when they do work well.
@TheRickJames
@TheRickJames 3 жыл бұрын
The 4k NVRs have the same model number but they are Hardware v2. This is important for recommending upgrades because the new 4k cameras are not decodable at max resolution on the old NVR as well as the video output is only supported up to 1080p on the V1 NVRs. Currently only ship V2 8ch NVRs but they still ship V1 and V2 16Ch NVRs so make sure you have the correct model if your not purchasing a package.

My friend, do you know the difference between the 810a camera and the 820a (it's the turret version)? You lose on the infrared light during the night? I like how it's lowkey and doesn't feel that you're pointing the camera so hard in any particular direction, if that makes sense. I have not found any manuals for the cameras or NVRs. Reolink says they don't have a manual for this NVR package...

For the indoor one we tried the E1 Pros (did a review on those a few months back). For outdoor I would stick with their RLC-410W model. You can go with other cameras that are WiFi onvif/rtsp but if you want to make it easy and plug and play it makes sense to keep the brands matching. amzn.to/2GFNEsM

Can you set this up to be to a VGA monitor live at all times. Then multi feed to HDMI to a TV? I want to have full CCTV in our master closet hidden and out of sight, but have the option to connect to HDMI on our TV in the living room with out disrupting the VGA monitor. In case we need or want to see something with out having to run into the room.

Works just fine as long as the VGA monitor supports the resolution you select. My test screen only supported 1080 max and I had to adjust the output of the NVR to 1080p and it showed both HDMI and VGA at the same time. Pretty slick!

Just to be clear, you don't need a computer? The NVR does the processing so that, as you showed in the beginning of the video, you can simply connect the NVR directly to a TV and monitor, playback live or recorded footage??
