You didn’t mention the email to google cloud option. I have the cameras email video clips to my Gmail cloud drive for free. When I get the notification on my phone it’s stored on google drive in case someone vandalizes my camera. This is the reason why I went with Reolink.

How do you have that setup? I can have it send me email alerts, but I don’t see a way to upload to google drive.

@@DoItYourselfDad Where you able to find out how to upload the videos to google drive?

Nope, doesn’t look like it can, or can easily unless your setting up some FTP deal.

I was considering this camera because I had understood that even under a star lit sky it looked like evening with full color. Obviously from your review that is not the case. Thanks for the review!

It definitely needs a bit more ambient light than star and moonlight to get a decent image.

Does this camera have the option to continuously record 24/7?
@jcm96982 ай бұрын
They have a new battery camera that records 24/7. Just received mine, haven't set it up yet.

@jcm9698 will you message me when you have it set up, please?

I have that cameras now, and making a video on it. It is not true 24/7 recording, and frankly a dissapointment. Stay tuned, the video should be up soon.

Without a paid subscription, can you easily use your PHONE to view the daily events/recordings on the memory card? 🤔 Would the home hub device absolutely be needed, or would you always need to REMOVE the memory card and use a PC? 🤔
@DoItYourselfDad4 ай бұрын
You don't need the the homebase to view the footage, I have been using the app just fine without the homebase.

I’ve been thinking of getting this camera for my rental cottage but was planning on mounting it above the floodlights on a convenient tree. 1, will the motion detector on the lights turn the camera on whenever they come on & 2, if the camera is 20-30 feet up a tree, how often am I going to have to climb a ladder to get access to the sd card? Will it just continuously loop recording until I remove it? Thanks!
@darthlunacy780519 күн бұрын
@@sylvanaire It has the option to overwrite the old videos, so basically loop them.

Curious if you attempted to connect to any NVRs either Reoink's or something third party like Blue Iris?
@DoItYourselfDad6 ай бұрын
I havn’t, I do have a disk station that I’ve used as an NVR so I may give it a shot.
@jboomhauer6 ай бұрын
Constantly streaming to Blue Iris would kill the battery. Better to let the camera handle the events.
@toddh37746 ай бұрын
@@jboomhauer True, but was thinking of connecting USB charger so its more of a wired camera instead of battery. I am guessing something like the Reo Duo might be better in that scenario? any thoughts?

I am confused about your statement if someone steals the camera or the memory card you lose everything. The Reolink cameras that I have now not only stores detections on the card but also on cloud. You’re saying this camera only stores things on its memory card? If so this is the first reolink camera that stores things the way you described it and this would prevent me from purchasing it. I presently have 9 reolink cameras and each of them stores things on the card and cloud. I am 79 years so I am easily confused please help me understand. Nice video Thanks

Yes, the camera does store things on the camera's SD card. Now there are 2 ways to get the content store in a more central location. 1) This is the hard and nerdy way. You can setup a FTP server and you can configure your camera to upload the media to that FTP server 2) Get mentioned Home Hub (90 USD), and it will automatically backup media taken by camera to the SD card or storage connected to the home hub. I have 3 Reolink cameras and I used to do method 1. Now, I do method 2 and so far with few hiccups, it worked fine for me. Hope this helps.

@MySledgeHammer Reolink actually has 3 options for storing and accessing camera footage: 1st, local storage (SD card) - Reolink app creates a secure connection back to your camera for viewing; 2nd, NVR (many options, including the Hub) will record camera feed and present it the to user however the NVR is capable; and, 3rd, a local + Reolink cloud option (this is setup with your Reolink account). If you are paying a subscription fee, you are using their cloud; if not, you are most likely connecting back to the local camera storage. The notifications and viewing of local vs. local+cloud will look the same until you disconnect your Internet or unplug the camera -- then, only the cloud service footage will be available on the app.

Don’t forget the camera can email video clips to any email address. I use a GMail account just for the cameras and depend on the free google drive storage. Works great as a free cloud storage option.
