What if you don’t have a POE switch and are using plug and Ethernet on the TrackMix? Would it work?

Come on Reolink. Native HomeKit support would be perfect!

I still don't know why brands don't just support it. I guess there are limits to the quality, but you won't think it would take much.

Thank you for the video. What is the range of the cameras to the hub? All systems like I tried the cameras never have enough range to connect to the hub unless they are very near. I have a ranch house where the cameras outside are all very far away from each other and the hub and this is all useless and never works. I am yet to find ONE wireless camera security system that actually works unless they are old fashion wired systems.

It is based on 2.4 or 5 ghz wifi. So it really depends on how "busy" your area is for wifi.

Looking for a system that only stores video locally so therefore i have been running into DVRs. But i want to easily live view and review footage outside my home network. This seems to do the trick but how? Does the app securely connect to my home network? I dont want anything using the cloud.. (less security) Other recommendations were saying that i would need to setup a VPN and port forwarding to remotely view locally stored footage. What am i missing?

Is there an NVR that allows to connect the Argus 4 longer distance than my Ubiquiti point of access ? I need to replace my WiFi Arlo systems (all pro with a hub) for an XL ranch style home Thanks
@ThisSmartHouseАй бұрын
So you need to connect the Argus 4 over a longer distance? You can connect your camera to your wifi and then connect back to the Home Hub. You would just need to add a wifi ap closer to your camera.

Hi. Thank you for posting this review. I have a QNAP NAS which supports RTSP cameras (I can view the stream using QNAP's apps). Is there a way for me to view the Argus 4 Pro on my NAS (I noticed it doesn't support RTSP) or at least via the Home Hub Pro (you did mention it supports RTSP?)?

Is there anyplace or way to find out what kind of testing has been done on the home hub as far as distance? This sounds like a great idea but unless it can talk with cameras 200 or 300 feet away, it would be useless to me. I want to be able to monitor out buildings and even give a little warning when someone is comming up my 800 foot driveway. Also what is the response time on alerts? I assume communicating at 5 ghz is faster than at 2.4 ghz, maybe, maybe not.
@ThisSmartHouse2 ай бұрын
I don't have any specs, but it is 2.4 / 5 GHz wifi. So the range would be the same as your home wifi. If you are trying to connect that far away, I would be concerned about anything dropping out. You might need to add additional wifi access point and connect through them. As far as alert timing, it shouldn't make a difference. I am alerted within a few seconds on mine (but I disable most of my alerts).

Can the wifi on the home hub be turned off? I allready have a full mesh system with separate network for the smart home
@ThisSmartHouse2 ай бұрын
I will have to check if you can turn it off. But you can connect to cameras that are on your network (using existing wifi)

@ThisSmartHouse-I want to use OBS and the camera to capture a distant scene overlooking a preserve. Would the Argus 4 Pro and hub work well for this type of application?
@ThisSmartHouse2 ай бұрын
Probably not, as the Argus 4 only records during motion events. If you want to stream you will probably need a powered (or PoE) camera.
@emilianoruiz76813 ай бұрын
Does the home hub support continuous recording from a wired camera or only records when triggered?
@ThisSmartHouse3 ай бұрын
It supports continuous recording from wired or powered wireless (e.g. E1). The limit is on battery powered cameras.
@jamesnelson77973 ай бұрын
Is the limit due to constant recording draining battery faster than it can replenish?
@ThisSmartHouse3 ай бұрын
Yes, the power it takes to run the camera sensor and wifi is quite a lot.

Can it use face and plate recognition to only alert me when unknown cars or people approach my property??
@ThisSmartHouse3 ай бұрын
Reolink doesn't have face or plate recognition on-board. It does have basic people, animal, and vehicle detection. However, if you want to add more ML/AI detection, you could feed the video into something like Frigate. Because Reolink cameras support local streaming, it is simple to add the cameras to another system.

SD cards are not the best choice for CCTV systems because they wear out every time something is written to them. I configured both my raspberry pis (one for pihole and one for home assistant) to use HDs instead.
@ThisSmartHouse3 ай бұрын
Completely agree. But the micro SD is more accessible for the consumer, which is where this is targeting. I would like to see them add the ability to "RAID" or backup footage to the other SD slot.

It's odd how do many tech reviewers say 'x' instead of times, like in this video, the E1 zoom has a 3 times zoom, not a 3 x zoom. It reminds me of people who say 'Lol' out loud instead of laughing. I wonder why they do it? 🤷♂️
@ThisSmartHouse3 ай бұрын
Because it has become synonymous. It is faster to say x than to say times.

@@ThisSmartHouse Thanks for the review, I still can't decide on whether to get one of those hubs or not. 🤔

The hub SUCKS i have had one and cant connect my cameras to it because they always lose connection. Thy are only 20 and 30 feet away. they wont stay connected at all
@ThisSmartHouse3 ай бұрын
Which cameras are you trying to connect? Is the hub away from things that might be causing interferance?
