Great info again! This video shows the importance of having a wired setup. Wireless can be more convenient, but would miss so many little things like small animals. I have seen cats and squirrels playing late at night as well as an old man walking slowly in the middle of the road at 3am. The old man looked really spooky and it was on Halloween! Thanks again for all of your hard work with these videos!

I agree getting camera setup in front, back and side of your house for good reason.. Two weeks ago our mailbox was knocked down.. The first time it happen I didn't have any cameras. Second time it happened again I installed cameras.. Notice on the footage it was a group of kids going around knocking down mailboxes.. Turn that video in to the police and they found the group of kids.. Another time our cameras caught a deer on our front lawn dead. We had to call the DNR and report it. Looked back on the camera and notice a pack of wolves attached the deer. As for that bird, that could be a red tail hawk.. They are known for eating prays like smaller animals.. So that might be what that hawk is

Not the bird footage...even it was in the motion zone, it will depend on the sensitivity and whenever the bird pauses, the camera thinks the motion stopped and will stop recording. My other camera set just to record while there is motion didn’t capture the event.

Been looking for a non-PoE 2K or ideally 4K wired wifi camera for this reason. I currently have 2 Wyze cams and a EZVIZ CX3 that record 24/7 pointed out the window as I live in a rental so I can't just go wiring the house. The CX3 line crossing detection works good but notifications aren't instant and tho clear it's only 1080p.

I like these reolink cameras. Too bad that the lowest operating temperature is 14 degrees. Not ideal for Michigan weather as we have quite a few days we're the departure drops below this threshold.

i think i read a review that they actually work well below the advertised 14 degrees. might research that.

That was the 12MP that recorded the bike incident and the mail truck footage but I changed the setting to 3840x2160 aspect ratio.

This is great!!! I was looking for 24/7 cameras. It seems you don't even need an outlet, the cat6 gives enough power to the camera, right? This is a good setup, do you still use a doorbel? Do reolink have doorbells? Also, is this the RLN8-410 hub? If so, it says supports up to 12MP, is this the same as 4k? Also, how do you connect your setup to your monitors?

POE supplies the power from your switch if your switch is a POE type. Your camera of course needs to be a POE (power over ethernet) model also.

4k resolution can be 8 or 12 MP (and prolly other Megapixel size as well). Reolink recently introduced video doorbells probably within the year, it seems

What are the laws regarding your security camera looking into neighbours backward? Mine see about 170 degrees and I can see part of their yard.

You in the USA? The laws are all over the place and you would have to share where you are.

@6:23 - Uh, no that was not an accident, she aimed for it. But as soon as you showed how they are right up against the sidewalk, I'm actually more surprised if this is the first time that has happened probably most kids riding or walking bye would have an urge to kick something sticking out of the ground.
