Despite the fact that the video was posted 11 years ago , it still gives me the chills and these uncomfortable goosebumps because of how Syria was in the past and how it is now. As a Syrian who is 17 years old realizing how college life in the 2000’s was just simple and nice makes me want to relive what these past college students lived. Eventually, we all hope that Syria would come back standing strong.

I'm from Algeria, and I was in Syria in 2007 for tourism with my family, I visited Damascus Aleppo and Lattakieh, it is a very beautiful country, I saw no terrorists in there, I even saw a Muslim with a beard hanging out with a Christian having a cross on his neck, they were having coffee together just like these people in the video. My arab world I cry for you everynight :'(

I miss Syria back then. I was 19 and now I'm 35! I'm happy that I still hear from some of these old friends, and they have done a lot so far. I work with the UN in Syria and I have 2 daughters. The 3 lovely ladies are in Dubai with their precious families. And the one was studying medicine is now a big dermatologist. 😊

This is his greatest disaster that killed hundreds of thousands of young children and young adults such as yourself. Al Assad is bad dictator but you could do what those young people are doing enjoying their youth which is a once in a lifetime event. As a Syrian who was born in the year 2000 this video is really tough and eye watering This terrible war happened at the exact time that I was discovering myself and it was the first thing that i was aware of as a teenager and everything sort of went downhill since I saw my beautiful Syria being destroyed for a reason that I have yet to understand I lost people and I fuckin lost myself to this terrible war Just why can't human beings be less selfish and think about one and other ? Don't worry dude, a lot of people over here now you aren't here for financial reasons. There are a lot of Syrians in my town, all with a high education and a good job. At school, we had a Syrian woman explain to us about her life in Syria before the civil war and why she fled to Belgium. It sounded like a beautiful country, she said a lot of Christians also lived there and that Islamic laws were very lax. I hope I can see Syria rebuild and revived within my lifetime.

I'm Syrian I know this place..it's in a elite upscale neighbourhood called Malki and it's residents have always been "and still" quite liberal comparing to an average syrian..there's no war in those neighbourhoods... so I can confidently say that those people either left the country or still here without any trouble

I was a student at Damascus university english literature department from 2011 till 2014.this bring tears to my eye remembering how i it used to be back then.I used to have like 55 friends in general and around 15 close friends we used to do a lot of things it is very similar to those fine people.Now they are either dead left college or lrft the country.At the last exam I applied for I only saw 4 of them.So yeah fuck war.don't do war.

This video was taken in 2009 But yeah ppl still hang out even if there's war. The places that got hit are certain parts of Syria in which oil is located. Also there's a Gold mine that place too has been targeted. And certain neighbour countries like Turkey and Israel are also taking parts of Syrian land the closest to them. So it's now certain parts of the country is basically theirs unfortunately unless the president has enough power to fight back which unfortunately is not the case one can't stand alone it's hard. So these places are avoided. In other parts everyhting is perfectly fine still the same.

Not really. It is almost normal life. We just hear rockets on Jobar from our army on the terrorists. Sometimes the Terrorists shell back but it doesn't do alot of damage. Just now people are celebrating in the streets because we qualified to the World Cup playoffs versus Iran.

But from 2011 to 2013 we almost hear suicide bombs everyday, Very sad we would sit around the Radio hearing the news and our eyes watery (Power used to cut alot back then because we used to live in Eastern Ghouta. The part that is in terrorists hand now). I have lived my entire life in this war I was 13 when it has started. Now I am 19. I have witnessed horrible stuff and then moved to Damascus finally. Things getting alot better in safety.

That's my comments a year ago 😂 Damascus is totally safe now since late May 2018, I would not recommend to get now, Israel is striking more often 3 times this month so if you are annoyed by explosion sounds stay away for a while. And I suggest you to wait until more embassies open, UAE and Bahrain did, we are expecting more this year. Idk if you'd have problems being British but during the fair there had been people from around Europe even French ppl. But don't take my words for granted I suggest you to wait for UK or other European embassies to open

This has to be one of the most sincere clips I've seen (looking for the full version atm) One of the students is a very close friend of mine but i reckon this clip is much older that the posting date - he is quiet bald now.. I've also seen other snippets form the documentary and from what I have seen it pretty much covers a very superficial image of what life in Syria is. What is clear here is that the filmmaker has spent enough time to experience the chaos that we call everyday life..

+madlen sehnawi I used to take my family to Syria for vacation in 2007, 2008 2010 and to tell you the true Syria was 1,000 times safer than Brazil. It is really hard to figure it out how this country turned into this way. I guess for now Damascus is protected but I don't know unitl when... Are you in Damascus ...how is the situation there?

Daniel Navarro yes that's correct i have relatives who live in Venezuela who would assure your idea that syria was one of the safest countries to live in. I was born and raised in Ukraine, but syria is a second home to me, im still studying in Damascus university regardless of the war which is going on, it's not so safe to live here honestly but fearing death is pointless! nothing but some bombs here and there, which you can't know about, only if you were hit by one of them :) everything else is normal! Do you have any relatives in syria that you used to visit before? Cheers from Damascus!!

Naci en siria en 2008.. lamentablemente mi familia eacapo debido a las guerras llegando a vivir en venezuela toda mi niñez.. debido a la situacion que atraviesa el pais tuvimos que inmigrar de nuevo pero esta vez a estados unidos, Tengo 15 años ahora y me parece tan triste que no podre visitar mi pais en un largo tiempo.. solo vivi una pequeña epoca en siria.. pero aveces me dan ganas de regresar :c
