it's not out of fashion, the young generation of artist and listeners don't always understand music with soul as opposed to music to just make money and a song with a "hook", no disrespect, but it was different then, I'm 58 so coming of age in the 70's and 80's and a teen and young man music like this made sense

I'm sorry that your heart is feeling broken. I feel for you. I don't know what it is to be 70 years old, but I do know that your life is only over when you quit. You've had a lifetime of wonderful (and some not so wonderful) moments. Some are ahead of you. Remember how it was when you were 17, or 20, or 25, or whenever, and use that confidence to get what you want. It's only over when you quit.

@@missya7394 , Thank you, MissyA. I do appreciate it. My love passed away, after being sick for a year. I assumed he had papers written up,but he didn’t. His son is very nasty, so he was next of kin and took over everything. Gene was 78, but I never thought he would pass away. We had bought a Cadillac and he paid cash for it. I got cancer 5 years ago, and I took my name off. Of course, we never thought to put my name back on. His son said I had lifetime rights to live at the house. He also said he was giving me the car. His father would want that. One day there was a knock at the door, his mother had a new title to the car because he had signed it over to her. I had to turn over the keys. Gene would never have wanted her to have the car. After he did that, I decided I had better move. He had control of the house too. I paid half on the funeral, but he still wanted money for all kinds of things. I had to leave our home and beautiful flowers and our big yard. Then 6 months later my sister passed away. I am pulling myself together, but some days are hard. Life is hard, but family is the main thing. I have a wonderful son and daughter. I can always depend on them. It is hard to lose everything at my age. I will prevail! Sorry but it may help for you to know the story.

Great memories. This is back when Kevin Cronin actually looked like Kevin Cronin and Gary Richrath played that unmistakable guitar. They had already transitioned from a rock band to a pop band, going from Gary's rock guitar driven music to Cronin's ballads, but at least they still sounded like REO Speedwagon. Those were good times with some good music. Thanks for posting this.

Dave Melton Thanks for posting Dave. If you count the times I have seen REO playing club dates in Champaign, Peoria, DeKalb and Rockford, Illinois, I believe I have seen them 27 times. Back in the early days, Cronin was known for his long, curly, dark brown hair and played along side Gary Richrath. The last time I saw REO, was during the Arch Allies tour with Styx and Survivor in St. Louis. Seeing Cronin with short, "dirty blond" hair took some getting used to. The "Speedwagon" will always hold fond memories for me and I really appreciate people taking the time to post these videos and performances, and I appreciate you replying to my initial post. Later.

Patricia, When I was 28 I lost my best friend in life to the "C". She was a (26 yo) young mother of two very young children, one just born, that is how they found it (stage iv)... Sometimes we lose people in our lives and it changes us forever and it is only then when we can appreciate how precious and fragile life really is. More so, how important it is to love with all that you have to those you know and all that is in you. This song, and "keep on loving you" was her favorite. I have only recently been able to listen to these. It's been almost 25 years. I am learning them on piano (trying too). (I have come down with the "C" almost 5 years now) whats crazy is, I have a young child now too, but I enjoy my time with him and I keep on fighting, every day and I never look back. It's amazing how someone else can encourage you to get out of bed and fight every day just because they said, "I love you".

I had just married a navy pilot and started my family in 1979 (I was 20). The sixties, seventies and eighties had the best music ever. Do you know why? Because only raw talent made it in the music industry. There was no technology to make you sound better than you were. I feel sorry for the younger generation today who are growing up with music from talentless "artists" and the crap and filth they put out today. You have a maturity that helps you see this. Your parents are proud of you, I am sure! I know I am.
@analuciahernandez55112 жыл бұрын
@@triciamills6031You are right! That is very true! The truth is that the artists of that era are completely different from those of today, they were real. And it is also unfortunate that, in that sense, this whole culture has been lost. But thanks to you, who keep it alive, our generation can enjoy it as well!! Lyrics : I can't fight this feeling any longer And yet I'm still afraid to let it flow What started out as friendship has grown stronger I only wish I had the strength to let it show I tell myself that I can't hold out forever I said there is no reason for my fear 'Cause I feel so secure when we're together You give my life direction You make everything so clear And even as I wander I'm keeping you in sight You're a candle in the window On a cold, dark winter's night And I'm getting closer than I ever thought I might And I can't fight this feeling anymore I've forgotten what I started fighting for It's time to bring this ship into the shore And throw away the oars, forever 'Cause I can't fight this feeling anymore I've forgotten what I started fightin' for And if I have to crawl upon the floor Come crashing through your door Baby, I can't fight this feeling anymore My life has been such a whirlwind since I saw you I've been running 'round in circles in my mind And it always seems that I'm followin' you, girl 'Cause you take me to the places That alone I'd never find And even as I wander I'm keeping you in sight You're a candle in the window On a cold, dark winter's night And I'm getting closer than I ever thought I might And I can't fight this feeling anymore I've forgotten what I started fightin' for It's time to bring this ship into the shore And throw away the oars, forever 'Cause I can't fight this feeling anymore I've forgotten what I started fightin' for And if I have to crawl upon the floor Come crashing through your door Baby, I can't fight this feeling anymore Ooh

This song was popular when I met my wife. Spot on for us in sentiment and humor. Bringing the ship to shore and throwing away the oars forever, and all that. Two years ago, she passed away. Shortly afterward, I was watching some videos of our favorite music on You Tube. I had probably seen this video before, but with about 1 minute to go (you know when) I literally gasped. It brought tears, but happy ones, for having had her light in my life.

Since u guys are swedes maybe u're the right ppl to give me a more accurated answer abt a question I've got: this album has many tracks, but when a swede u know for ages chooses to link u this specific song since we both share the same taste in music,does it means they're trying to send a msg through the lyrics of "cant fight this feeling anymore"? Hard to believe it was ramdon tho n asking directly isnt an option, maybe u guys could clarify that. Thanks in advance

My husband was on a 6 month float in the Mediterranean with the Marines. How many people remember back then when you made tapes of some of "your songs" and sent it off via snail mail? I used to spray my perfume on the package or envelope. He loved that! This was one of our songs. It told our love story he said. That was almost 32 years ago. Today there's no more long deployments. My love is sound asleep next to me as I reminisce. Those were the days! I Love you, D. #USMC #MarineWife

1988 if my math is correct. I guess I'm not the only one that uses the power of the brain to recapture mental pictures and actual feelings that take you back. I was 19 at the time. I am now 51. I am back in 1985 every time I hear this song, waves of nostalgia and emotion in equal measure. Such a great ballad straight from heartland America and a surprise mega smash hit in the more resistant UK market. The lyrics are heartfelt and the song is expertly played by an accomplished band, with aching guitar. I was 15 when this was released and it sounds wonderful today but it always makes me sad because I know I cannot ever return to the eighties when life really did seem simpler, despite the complications every era possesses.

@115004394199969209243 Ironically, the Cold War was at its height in the mid eighties. Despite this and the fear of nuclear war, the hope of a better tomorrow informed much of the political debate here in the UK and elsewhere. Perhaps this is one reason that explains the pull of nostalgia for this type of music, as well as the fact it is just brilliant music played by a band that really were in it for the music above all else- the fame and money probably were a happy byproduct!

I agree, I was born in 1952 and I miss the 60`s and the 70`s for the same reason.

well I think because I was a kid in the 80 I wouldn't have been aware so much of the cold war...not in canada anyways.really good point though.kids today know more about the world they live in than I did.maybe my mom kept me in the dark and just let me be a kid.were children in the 80 in the UK more aware of cold war stuff being closer to the ussr?

Happy 40th anniversary to the Wheels are Turnin' album! (11/05/24) I was 15 when this was released and had really only gotten into Rock music in a big way a year or so earlier, so WAT was the first REO album (cassette) I bought. They were also my third-ever concert in Jan '85 when they played Dallas with Survivor as support. REO released a lot of great music, but this is still my favorite album from the guys. ("Live Every Moment" is actually my favorite song from the album, and my overall favorite REO tune, but I already left a comment on that video a couple of years ago...)

I’m 17 and I went to the concert in Alpharetta Georgia and that had to be one of the best experiences I’ve ever had in my life . Definitely in the top 5 of the best things within my life so far. For the singer being 72!?! He was so damn hyped up and he is such a nice guy as you expect him to be I listened to speedwagon since around the start of 2024 and when my mom said she would buy tickets to the concert I was so excited for it, had to wait several months till it finally came by though, it was definitely worth the wait!! This is also the second concert I’ve ever been to. The first being Steve Miller Band, Journey, and Def Leppard. Now the second being Yacht Rock Revue, REO Speedwagon, and Train. If one of you reading this hasn’t went to a concert before let it be a good one because it’s a memory you won’t forget and is an amazing experience!

I wish I could’ve been born earlier in time so I could’ve seen them at a concert in their younger ages but sadly that didn’t happen. I also wish I found out about them sooner and grew up listening to them but damn man at least they are still doing concerts to this day and I was one of the people able to be there.
