Honestly, I can't wait for Rep Fitness to expand to EU, while Rogue and other companies are ok, I truly feel that with Rep-Fitness' designs and ideas/decisions.. they just take their things to a next level. A good example is their GHD, which has the guiding rods & more padding in the curve towards where your knees would be... that might seem like two smaller things comparing it side-by-side with e.g. Rogues GHD, but in fact.. those two decisions are the exact reason, I'd get that over any other GHD machine.

The price point is great, guessing since they sell direct and don’t need to pay distributors. Has this machine continued to keep up with continued use? Is it relatively as smooth operationally as more well known commercial brands in big gyms. Are the guide rods hollow or solid? Thx for a solid review!
@MacStrengthCo

The machine has been great so far no issues. It's well built and very smooth comparable to any commercial machine I've used. The guide rods are solid and seem to work well. For the price shipped it's better than the used market or cheaper models like the costco one in my opinion. It's one piece of equipment I have no regrets buying. Hope that helps and thanks for watching.

2:57 After watching your video in July, I pulled the trigger on this thing. I received it in August. After putting it together, I was questioning its size as I felt it somewhat small. I decided to measure the total width of it, and I'm only sitting at 58” from the top edge or bottom edge to the other and not 68” as in your video or their website. I have been going back and forth with customer service about my issues, and they're now stating their website is wrong??? Can you confirm the measurement of your pull-up bar and the back supports? I know you are an affiliate for rep fitness. Question… how does this stack up to prime fitness functional trainer. I am in the market for one.
@MacStrengthCo
@MacStrengthCo 2 жыл бұрын
The prime functional trainer is nearly $7000 so compared to a $2300 REP functional trainer to me they are in different price points. I suspect influencers pushing PRIME equipment didn’t pay full price for it or got it for free. Unless your training for MR. Olympia I can’t see anyone needing more than the REP ft-5000. We’ve used it for nearly 2 years 7 days a week and no issues. Prime makes really nice equipment but It’s not common in home gyms so use that $4000 saved and buy more equipment unless your financially set for life. Cheers🤙🏼

Hello, just watched your review, very well done 👍🏻. I’m same height and build as you and reading the comment above that the 3000 is not as wide so certain ranges/movements are better has me second guessing the 5000. Why would being more narrow make 3000 better? Thank you

@@rememborize For cable shoulder presses it's better if the resistance cable is narrow where its closer to your shoulder width to stimulate a shoulder press with dumbbells for example. The closer the resistance cable is in line of the muscle when performing the press.

Thanks for posting this review! We are looking at getting one for our home gym. Two questions for you though: 1) Do you feel that the maximum weight per each stack is enough (without the attachment pin you talked about) and 2) You mentioned once you built it, it's not going anywhere. If we decide to move in a handful of years, what would be the possibility of moving it to a new location? (So a one-and-done type move). Thank you again!
@MacStrengthCo

Great questions. Here's my training situation. Hybrid/strength regime. 50% Cardio. I only deadlift 500lbs+, Bench 315 lbs and squatting in the low 400s. Not once have I felt I needed more weight and that was the main reason to buy the 5000 over the lighter 3000 model. I more meant once you set it up. It's not something you can easily slide over a foot to match the mirror better. When you build it just make sure it's in position. Moving from house to house would be no problem. Just some disassembly. Hope that helps answer your questions!

Ok so whats the point of adding more weigjt to a functional trainer when there is no way it can double up as a lat pull down machine? There is no attachment to hold your self down, not enough weight to perform lat pull downs or rows like in a lat pull down machine and many people say they are shorter than a lat pull down machine so fully extwnsion will be a problem unless u lean back. Also do to pulley been close to post there will be an angle when doing lat pull downs compare to the vertical movement of a true lat pull down machine...
@MacStrengthCo
@MacStrengthCo 2 жыл бұрын
I always recommend you buy separate machine for lat pulldown work like I have. Having said that it's not hard to max out a functional trainer and most can do it with certain movements. I can easily max this one out even with the 220lb stacks. I bought the REP ft5000 because it had the heaviest stack available at the time. The industry standard is 165lb stacks which means 82 lbs effective weight. The lighter stacks are found on nearly every older machine so for those that have those machines using a plate pin helps add more weight. I've seen some people use devices to allow them to use their FT as a lat pulldown with things to hold their legs down etc. It's an option if your creative. Just for me I prefer 2 machines.
