I agree. Maybe other Customizers could add something similar to their videos to help show there is in fact a difference between sewing back together an old Raggedy Ann doll, & making an Art Doll. Plus, tbh, a good deal of videos like this are my version of ASMR. I could just sit & listen to her voice for hrs.

This is so unfair. Doll customs are obviously targeted towards adults. It can be dangerous and expensive, and you can't play with them afterwards since they are art dolls. We can tell when content is sponsored and to be frank I wish the community did receive regular sponsorship. This can be such a pricey hobby, free dolls would make things so much easier. Most toy companies don't consider artists as a target demographic and skimp on articulation to keep cost down which makes things more difficult. You're Christmas collab Victoria was the first doll custom I came across. She was so pretty and I ended up falling in love with this community and started making my own dolls.

I think the thing that people dont realise about youtube is that its a business. they want to get people to make them content for sure so they offer monetization as a form of hope. when channels dont get monetization its not like the companies that pay to advertise their products arent still paying. google still gets plenty of money. its never cared about its creators because they have a monopoly (effectively) on video veiwing

It’s ya girl Deij it’s not so much as a targeted effort in removing the doll community as it is they made bad choices in how things were presented knowing that adolescents under 13 could view content that is being presented with ads that track ip addresses which breaks the law. Same with most social media platforms where kids or their parents are dishonest and claim kids are older so they can have an account. The fact is doll review and repaint videos, funny cat vids, cupcake deco tutorials, make up and tech reviews, and gaming walk through a don’t just attract adults. As a parent I watch a lot of these to get inspiration or be informed before I let my kid do things. However I watched KZbin and other internet content before I was 13. I’m glad KZbin is changing, but I’m not thrilled with the current approach, however the government didn’t give them much choice, because they were selling private information pertaining to children’s viewing habits to 3rd parties without making every best effort to discourage children from using the “wrong platform”.

KZbin do their best to remove all channels of interest, not just dollmaking. If there is anything i want to protect the children from its all tose commercials telling people to buy things that won't last and then destroy the nature and also, learn compulsve behaviours of wasitng money and materials from mother nature without any respect for the long term effects of that mentality.

That's actually partly why this is happening; because so many channels skirt commercial law by targetting children and enabling ludicrous amounts of ads on their videos KZbin was sued a huge amount (over 100 million dollars I think? you'd have to source check) so they've had to move anything that could be considered 'aimed for children' over to KZbin kids, where there's minimal if any monetization or ads allowed. It's a logical step, but it's been pushed forward with little to no groundwork beforehand because of the lawsuit, so a lot of channels that aren't aimed for kids but use/have 'child associated' items in them are likely going to get hit. Here's hoping they can just opt-out of tagging it 'child friendly' as the announcement said, but we'll have to wait and see

I think the disclaimer did what it can. It's all we can do besides hope that the decision makers have any amount of common sense. I hope all of the customizers I watch do a similar disclaimer.

Unfortunately it's not KZbin's idea, but a court order from the government, so they can't say no. Republican government is paid mostly by old media, so they want to snuff out new media to keep their profits up. That's why they're targeting google, amazon, netflix, etc. That's even why they put Ajit Pie in control, so they could get rid of net neutrality. They're trying to keep ppl watching cable TV instead of unregulated internet media that they can't control

SidereusOfTheFallen They were literally orderes by the courts/fcc to move children's content to their kids platform so that they would not be exposed to comments or targeted ads. The infraction was primarily about the ads though, by law you can't use targeted ads on kids under 13, and all youtube vids have targeted ads unless you mark the video as being for kids, but then you make way less money. So now they've been given an ultimatum, to take all children's content off the platform entirely, b/c their algorithms weren't picking up all the kids content, and ppl weren't marking their vids as kids content, so some kids were getting targeted ads, against the law.

I’m going to join the chorus praising the disclaimer. Excellent idea to quickly and effectively inform someone unfamiliar with the hobby about the dangerous tools and materials it often requires, and how the end result is not meant for a child to play with. I made a little habitat for my cousins’ young children’s toys to live in by covering a box with white paper, and used a lot of hot glue to attach fake flowers and platforms for the toys. I did it all before I came to their house and then explained that they could color all the white paper I left blank for them but could not help with the hot glue because it was dangerous and could burn them. We talked about how I’ve burned myself using hot glue before and it really hurt! Those are important conversations to have with kids.

Great disclaimer! KZbin needs to understand that toys aren't always for kids. Rubik's cubes are a toy right? Anyone who gives that to a child is a sociopath!
