This is so AWSOME! I'm a hairstylist and I still have all of my manniquins from school. I have the African American version of Jessica. Her name is Naomi. I used her in my Braids & Extensions course.....I still practice on her (been licensed for 5 yrs....like playing with dolls) I was truly curious how your repaints would look on a Cosmo school manniquin because I knew it would be beautiful and very informative for me 😍😍 ❤👏👏👏😅😇

The dye didn’t work because the hair was too dark. You need light blonde for that dye to pick up.

Yes I thought the same thing. She would need to “lift” the brassy blonde out of the hair first so that the hair is almost white(“frosty”) blonde and then the pink tone over that would pop!

Also synthetic hair usually doesn’t pick up hair dye. You have to use other dyes

@@Shridra hairstylist mannequins never have synthetic hair... There is maybe parts where the hair is synthetic, but it's mixed with real hair.. If that doll has 100% synthetic hair, it's not real practice doll... I'm hairdresser student and that's why I know these things😊

That's really amazing art work. I went to cosmetology school as well but I trained as an esthetician so my mannequin head had no hair or face and we had to come up with creative ways of adding a face to our dolls and if we wanted hair, we had to use a wig. I'm very curious to see how you would approach one of these mannequins. I love that you can get as creative as you want with them.

She is absolutely gorgeous and I'm always so surprised how you give their faces more definition 😍 A bit about the hair issue: You won't be able to get a pink color on her hair from a box dye. Your best bet is to use a fun color (from brands like manic panic, arctic fox, or special effects) after bleaching her hair a bit (to a light blonde). Also to get curls on her head you absolutely NEED to have HIGH HEAT. That cool doodad you have doesn't get hot enough for her hair. Those dolls have a human remy synthetic mix. They take ALOT of heat. I use to be in cosmetology school and still have all 5 of my heads. They are meant to ruin lol. Best of luck and you should definitely try again!! All of your work is gorgeous.

When you are colouring synthetic hair you can't use normal hair dye because it works differently. You can't go any lighter but you can go darker and fashion colours using alcohol based inks and dyes, its super fun to do and if you look up synthetic wig dying tutorials that will help 😊

Use a regular standard iron instead of that weird hair contraption. Those heads have chemically treated hair that affects how it takes heat and other treatments

I got one of these for Christmas when I was in high school and when asked what it was, due to the expression on my face, I pulled it out by the hair at the top of my head. The reaction I got from my family (it was sent by an out of country family member so no one knew) was priceless! Totally made up for the year my mom hid all my presents, gave me a lump of coal candy, and said Santa had put me on the naughty list. It was a joke and all, but 30+ years later I am still a little bitter about it LOL

To get that pale pink hair you had to bleach that red hair until it was practically white first !! Pastels do not show up on any hair that is darker than pale pale blonde or better yet platinum blonde first so you always have to bleach the hair before you color with pastels or even bright colors.. as they all look most vibrant and the best when placed on white hair !! Hope this helps.
