Hi, I just wanted to share with you I have been a American model railroad enthusiast for 41 years.I never have been interested in British railroading at all. I have been watching your videos for some time and I loved your video showcasing your different Locomotives. Thanks to you and your excellent modeling I now have a strong interest in British railroading. I find myself watching British railroading videos and I love watching your layout videos. Thank you so much for broadening my interest. P.S I am building a house with a 14' x 50' area in the basement for my version Of The L&N railroad in 1975. Thank you for what you do Pat Coleman

I've watched this a few times now as after the first time I got the confidence to put one of my locos in the IPA bath and have a go. I have repainted an HO Class 66 into GBRf 66789 and your video gave me the confidence to go ahead and a point of reference at each point of the process. I'm already planning my next repaint. Thank you very much for your great videos and constant inspiration.

Do I want to spend an hour watching a locomotive being painted? Definitely not - except that it was absolutely fascinating. What a fabulous job. She looks terrific! Your video here, is quite literally, packed full of clear & simple information & you've taken what for most people, would be an extraordinarily daunting & difficult job & somehow explained it all in such a manner, to make it look easy for anyone of us, to now have a try. I am most encouraged, to have a go at repainting & weathering some of my model trains. Thank you so much, Everard Junction. You're a 'You Tube', superstar, at not only the practicalities of doing the job but you've also communicated how to do it, in such a clear, simple & effective way. I can't thank you enough, for this excellent video, which has been planned & edited so well. Quite seriously, your production here, deserves an Oscar!

Definitely an inspiring video for a how to paint a model rail vehicles. Just of note the base model 31/1 used is a unrefubished 31 as you most probably know having had to remove the shirts around the buffers but there also some other features that where lost you model of 31165 still retains are the steam heat boiler exhaust on the roof, boiler water gauge and recess for it on the body side @ number 1 end (end with foor radiator fan). Also note the head code panel on either end you have left black which represents the glass panel with the black backing with the 2 clear/opaque dots for the old head code lights to glow through needs to be plated over and painted grey with two opaque lenses with a back out line to represent the rubber that held them in. Keep the videos coming 👍

Not sure folks are so scared to try adding realism to their stock as it brings them to life for sure. While I do not model British railways I always like to see what other people are doing to their layout and stock. I really enjoyed watching your video my problem is editing I am so crap at this I just babble on and have shakie videos. The more you try the better you get, I started off with an old open coal wagon then kept rubbing it clean and started again until now I show my wagons and locos off on facebook. I'm currently using lots of weathering pencils which I recently bought 37 in a box and love using them. You layout looks very realistic and glad you showed what you've been up to thanks again.

Hi Richard, I’ve never seen anyone make such a good job of repainting and weathering locos and wagons, it’s a real credit to you and I guess your car restoration skills gives you the eye for the quality and detail needed. The thing that intrigues me is how you get the holes back to the correct size for the trims ie door rails etc as I assume with so many coats of paint and varnish the holes get full of paint?

Great job, but you knew that. 😋👍 2 quick questions: 1) Do you ever itemize a list of parts when you take so many off? In my bygone youth my father taught me to make a map or label- whether working on a car engine or a box fan motor. I trusted my memory then, now I make a list or take a picture. LoL. 2) Do you recycle the Isopropyl Alcohol? With a rag or sponge, you can strain it and use it clean; but I'm sure you know that. Anyhow... cheers and thanks for a great video. 👍

Hi Richard. When I have been looking for paint matches, often with the RAL codes, many of the Ebay suppliers I find are car touch up paint providers. It crossed my mind that I could then thin the paint for airbrushing onto HO models. I am concerned that the pigment would not be ground fine enough for models. With your additional knowledge of cars, do you think it is feasible to use thinned 'touch up' paint for airbrushing?

Carful using RAL paint numbers as different suppliers of a colour will be of a differing shades. OK if you don't want to touch up pain work but something to be aware of.

Is there a way to just remove the branding/ logo off a loco. Specifically id like to remove the Midland mainline branding off my HST and then replace it with the East Midlands trains branding with a transfer or something. But of course I only want to remove the Branding and not affect the paintwork underneath so I can slide the EMT branding on the MM bodywork. Thanks Matt

Real interesting video Richard. Do think you have a thing about wwe summer slam, as you put out a video the evening of the event as well last year. Not complaining, as gives me something good to watch before the wrestling lol. Also a good birthday present. Keep up the good work

26:31 - is it possible to trim the Maskol with the tip of an x-acto knife to get a straight line, or does it tear when you try?

I've not tried it. A thin application should cut with a fresh blade. Will try on the next job.
