You should have put the resin on indoors and aloud the liquid to seep into the crack further then taken it to the sun light to cure. Doing it from the start in direct sun light caused it to start curing before it had fully gotten down in the crack fully.

You can't pull off the hardened resin like that, it has to be scraped off. The idea is to cut the resin flush with the surrounding screen to fill the crack, when you pull at it you are pulling bits out of the crack.

you're supposed to to put the resin in the crack for 5 to 10 minutes. so all the air pockets get out of the cracks . it says after the 10 mins having the air removed . you then put the strips over the glass and sit it out side for an other 10 mins

I work in the glass industry, these things always amuse me. I wish they worked it would be a much easier life sometimes. Just to remove scratches on glass it has to be buffed much in the same way as you would do when repairing paint jobs on cars. Resin will hide scratches if 2 pieces of glass are being laminated together, as you have a resin bond coating of 1.5mm as a standard bond and that willl cover any scratches making them invisible. As for cracks, well i am still chuckling to myself.

Hey Jeff. The screen on my Onn brand tablet is scratched due to excessive use. Ever tested a product that can get the screen back to smooth? Thanks from one of your favorite fans. You've saved us hundreds of wasted dollars. The best so far is the air fryers. Thanks brother
@sidehustleincometoday1733 жыл бұрын
these are my observations after trying to repair the screens of 4 different smartphones. 1) wear gloves! you don't want to get glass bits nor resin/epoxy/nail polish on your skin. 2) a phone with a curved edge is difficult to deal with. you can fill in the cracks but the corner or edges may be impossible to smooth out. 3) you can't expect a repair kit to level out the surface for you, it can only fill the cracks. the screen surfaces may need more scraping off with a razor. phones with big cracks may have a raised surface and no amount of scraping will smooth it out. in those cases, I just use packing tape put it over the big cracks, then try to bend the phone surface back to smoothness... this is very risky and could further damage your phone. If I can't get the surface smooth, I just re-tape it with packing tape and leave it alone. 3) use a razor holder because it is safer and easier on your hands.
@tilanwickramarachchi50893 жыл бұрын
I'm thinking of doing this on my phone... Any advice on leaving the phone in a vacume chamber to force the resin into crackes?
@sidehustleincometoday1732 жыл бұрын
@@tilanwickramarachchi5089 I don't know about resin, but nail polish is harder to remove the longer it dries. idk, it all seems like BS at this point. If you can straighten out the glass and slide over it smoothly with a razor blade, a 3-inch wide packing tape will cover most phones. Even smaller width packing tape from the dollar store is fine if don't mind using two strips... or just need to cover a small area on the phone. Just feel it with your finger (take care not to get cut) and you will know what's appropriate amount of tape to use. After having reviewed over 150 used/damaged phones, if I really want a great job done, replace the glass, otherwise, careful application of clear tape with a credit card is good enough IMO.

I used to be a glazier, many years ago and things do move on and get better, but I'm not sure if glass can be fully repaired to look like new. Maybe a lot of buffering, but is it really worth time, effort. Prevention is always better than cure, so I always by a glass resistant for phones.
@Lee--- Жыл бұрын
The biggest problem seems to be getting the resin to penetrate into the cracks. There is too much surface tension. A surfactant is needed. The question is, what to use as a surfactant? Possibly ethanol? Or would that damage the device? Or impact the curing?
@jenniferjones26844 жыл бұрын
If you watch a windshield repair video, they say to push on the crack a little bit so the resin can get between the crack, so it can fill it up and then you wouldn't see it, not sure if you can do the same with phone

I got similar results, was not expecting anything better. Except, I used UV light, and it was amazing to see cracks disappear before my eyes...until tilted the light. Cracks are still there, although less visible or completely invisible under some angle. And, definitely smooth. Anyway, I think it will hold until upgrade.
@flitsies4 жыл бұрын
You may have had better results if you had not done it in the sun, given the resin more time to trickle into the cracks. But because you did it in the sun as soon as you put the resin on the glass it started to go off, which meant it didn't have time to get into the crack properly. Anyway this stuff looks a lot like UV resin which is used as in crafts and as a glue, also known as 5 second glue.

I was hoping this would work cause even though I've repaired many phones and tablet screens, it can be a pain in the ass just applying the right amount of glue or double sided tape to hold it back together. Plus some phone screens can be quite expensive and hard to find. The original 2020 Motorola Edge being a prime example. The screen is curved and 21:9 aspect ratio so its quite pricey just for the screen.

I replaced 2 screens for my wife. She broke it a 3rd time and I told her to get it fixed on your own dime. Needless to say, her phone is still cracked.
