I'm working on a motor problem with my 3-year old Triton ps, and after watching this I discovered my swivel wasn't swiveling at all! No wonder the cable keeps getting all tangled...sheesh. I wonder how long its been messed up. Thanks to you I have now fixed it!

Thanks for comment . I did repair a cable where I just could r get it to swivel easily . Even after a lot of lube it would still twist the cable . I also tour the robot model can twist the cable . The low end models like the e10 do lots of wheelies and twists .

This was so helpful. Thank you so much. You literally made my day

Hey , You made my day with your comment. Thank you . Good luck . It will work .

Thanks for the video I was more or less scared to take that thing apart thinking they might have used glue. We'll see in 3 hours if it's okay and doesn't stop running like every other time. Thanks a lot though. I'm wondering if you can just buy the swivel. I've had really good luck with my lights by using solder then liquid electrical tape then heat shrink and more liquid electrical tape. I'm sure you could do the same on this connector if you had to cut it back a bit.

Thanks for the comment . I contacted a place in Italy and they say you cannot buy the connector and you have to throw the cable away . I’ve joined the cables before ( cut the connector off and solder wires and waterproof the join and heat shrink over it . That works and is more reliable . I’m making a new video on joining a badly corroded maytronics cable . Stay tuned

Awesome video, did your robot actually stop working? Mine still works fine just the swivel tangles. What do I need to do here?
@Dentinvent4 күн бұрын
Thanks for the comment. Yes that was one of many swivels I have fixed. The contacts actually corroded so badly that the robot would just keep stopping. It worked again after this fix. Regarding the tangling , where the cord enters the swivel , you need to lubricate the O ring with silicone grease . Make a long fine tube adapter to be able to squirt the lube into the rubber seal . This can help the swivel from tangling .

I'm curious of how long the copper tape will last being in chlorine water. Doesn't this piece get moisture on it? I would like to try this but I'm curious of how well it held up. I don't have big chunks missing but definitely have grooves in my conductor rings. I did put some dielectrical grease on there and it seemed to make it better so we'll see how that works first.

The moisture should not easily get into the connector unless the robot is left in the pool for extended periods of time. Sealing the connector O rings with more silicone grease and sometimes the addition of a few slica gel balls will also help . So far no problems with corrosion. Of course copper and solder are not as good as gold . As long as your conductor rings are still conducting you should be fine. This fix really is for completely blown out areas and saved an expensive replacement.

I left it in my pool for 14-16 months, and it finally corroded and even started corroding the cable going back to the power supply (only made it half way) I think a better design could let us get away with keeping it in the pool for longer, potentially the swivel could be outside of the water further up the cable.

My contacts are okay on the cable side. My middle pin on the other side is low and can be pulled out but it does not spring. Any ideas?
@Dentinvent7 ай бұрын
Glad you asked ! I’ve just completed another repair with the exact same problem . I could not get the pin higher so I extended it . I’ll have to make the video and show you how . It works perfectly now .
@Dentinvent7 ай бұрын
Oh I’d try silicone oil on the pin to see if it pops out more . If the white plastic looks melted it means high current has gone through that pin and it may not lift out more

Did anyone figure out how to make the pin spring up again?
@stephenkrueger9745Ай бұрын
@@juanrpolloI used a pair of tweezers and pulled it up it doesn’t have spring action so I’m hoping it’s lasts.
@juanrpolloАй бұрын
@@stephenkrueger9745 The problem is that the spring forces the connection between the pin and the connector. I already replaced it, but now I wonder if a simple ballpoint pen spring would be enough for the electrical connection.
