Found your video a couple years late but it's a great resource! I'm tasked with reviving not one but THREE Studer A-80 24 track machines at work. One of which has numerous channels with the same problems you show here. Thank you!!

Hey biddmc, great restoration once again! Just short note on Studer/Revox machines: when I restore such circuits I also replace all of the teardrop shape Tantal capacitors. This is improving the sound quality very much. When testing these old Tantal capacitors, sometimes they still are within tolerance. But when measuring the distortion of the amplifier before and after replacment, there is a improvement in most of the cases. In the power supply circuits there are sometimes some PTC (thermistor) resistors for limiting the current during the time when the line voltage is switched on. A replacement of these with some fresh ones could also help to avoid problems. The Revox B790 turntable for example has 3 of these on the power supply print and the old PTC's can cause some funny problems. Otherwise the Studer/Revox/Nagra machines are very good and sturdy. Your videos always a pleasure to watch, keep on rockin'! Best regards from Switzerland, bluearcturus

Great video. I owned and operated an Ampex AG440B 1inch 8 track in the late 1980s and a. MCi JH 16 2 inch 24 track a few years later great sounding machines everything coming off tape sounded fantastic. Much better than the digital of the day getting ready to try out the new Allen and Heath SQ5 with the 24 bit 96k operating system! Rock on!
