When fitting the bearing at 20:50 you should use a long tube over the shaft that only hits the inner race. Hitting it like you are will have damaged the bearings and they will fail quickly.

It would be even better if she would heatup the whole bearing then it grows up some millimeters and slide smoothly on the anchor shaft 😉 If the bearing cooldown then it shrinks and sits perfect on the anchor shaft ... @@helmutwernerkrebs5878 They were sealed bearings, you need a hundred degrees C to get one thou of expansion, not sure it'd be good for the rubber shielding, you are correct that smashing the bearing on by hitting the outer race is a poor idea, she could have drilled a hole in the bench big enough for the shaft to pass through and used the bench top as a complete support for the bearing whilst fitting.

@@misscrabstick There is a tool for car-mechanics in the garageshop next to my home, they use it every day. This tool is for montage and demontage of all kind of bearing. It looks like a pipe wrench but the brackets are heating up the bearing powered by electricity (maybe 300W) - not much. Just now I found many stuff on google but not this tool - maybe it is only for business shoping available - or I searched with the wrong name. When I found it I will leave a Link here 😉 And I know too - that in the years 1990 they were using a 'flame cutter' at the lowest adjustment level to heat the bearing up - and with an ordinary pipe wrench they toke the bearings of and on. Remember you need only less then one millimeter of expansion. ⚠IMPORTANT you must heatup the bearing from the outer ring to the inner ring ⚠ If you start the heating up by the inner ring - the outer would be cold and do not allowed the inner ring to expand ... so the bearing would be deformed / damaged. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fpDZmXVupL6MfMU This video shows the technic and is in english but thie tool of the garageshop next to me does it the right way from outter to inner ring. And this maschine in the video is fixed .... the tool of the garade is mobile like a pip wrench (heating while carring the bearing onto the shaft and of the shaft)..

Hello Lin, Great job as always. The only thing bothering me was when you were holding the electrical extention cord in your left hand and put your right hand in the water stream of the pump. We would be very sad to see you get ⚡ electrocuted ⚡😥.... Also, of course a press would be the best to mount the bearings onto a steel shaft. However If you don't have one, with all respect would it not be better to use a piece of brass or copper pipe to do so? Hammering the bearings with a steel hammer 🔨 can cause greater damage to them or not? A Plastic hammer can also be an option as well. Take care and stay healthy. 👋👋👋👋🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺

The best way is to expand it by heat. This will expand it enough that the inner diameter is slightly larger than the shaft, and it just slips on. This can be done with an oil bath or uniformly passing a torch on low flame over it.

Repairing a pump is really repairing a heavy electric motor too. Notice how much new wiring being used to replace the old, burned wiring. Doing this by hand vs by machine at the motor factory is notable. Takes skill & patience which this young & attractive girl has in abundance. She is amazing & skillful. Proves what can be done when you are in a situation where you can't just buy or order replacements. Truly well done. Much ❤.

I too am a fan! Would like for you to explain how you know where to insert the coils into the motor body. I can see that you count the number of removed conductors and measure their gauge with a micrometer, but knowing which coils to connect together is what I'd like to understand. Thanks for the great video.

Before cutting the coils you can see how they are fitted, note that down. Many motors are wound in a similar manner to form the poles, someone who does it a lot will be familiar with them.

Try as much as possible not to hit the outer cover of the bearings. Locate a hollow cylinder the size of the inner cover of the bearings and there you can concentrate the necessary blows so that they fit on the pump rotor rod. Utterly fantastic except for using a hammer to pound those bearings onto the shaft. Need to use a piece of pipe so the force can be distributed around the entire inside bearing race. You also scared me when you held the electric outlet in one hand and stuck your hand into the water coming out of the pump. Please, please be more careful.

Yes she is super skilled and clever in many ways, and obviously energetic, but the nature of work like this is that one false step can make the whole job worthless. You called out the bearings. The sand-blasting and painting of all surfaces including bearing housings and gasket surfaces are also problems.

A very enjoyable set of videos. The satisfaction gained from doing these restoration projects must be very rewarding. The only words of wisdom I could offer is not to strike any part directly with a hammer, always use a punch. When tapping a motor shaft of a bearing/end cover, direct force from a hammer can mushroom the shaft end. Being up in the mountains, are repair materials delivered or collected?
