Nice restoration! There's no way you could pick up one of those now for 15 Euro in any condition, that one looks good.

Thanks! I was looking around recently and was stunned at how much they had jumped in price. It's scary! What was more annoying was that as I remember, the seller at the vide grenier only sold old systems and they had a whole bunch boxed, however I only had the money for the one on me, had flown over so was relying on my fathers good grace in bringing what I bough over. Hindsight...

Lovely video and a perfect restoration of my favourite console. If you've got Guardian in the box please be sure to give that a go. Best game on the system imo and one of the few that uses the full joypad.

That actually means a lot coming from an aficionado like yourself Glen, thank you! There wasn't a copy of Guardian unfortunately and looking around they are all £100+... except the one I just picked up at £28 from a collector in pristine condition! Look forward to trying this out :)

A well done restoration for a console that happened after the line of computers!

Thanks for the comment! Yep, the last in the line however many believe it's the system of choice! Add in the keyboard, mouse and some memory and you have a very capable Amiga with a CD drive to boot!

I had no idea, then I opened it... :D Glad it's all done and those organis polymer caps hopefully mean it'll never need that done again!

Nice work. Looking at all those caps, I'd be tempted to switch it on before starting, just to confirm it was working.

Hey Phil! I'm not a fan of old caps so always prefer to replace. I know, a lot of the time they are probably fine, though that age of caps can be notorious for issues. I had the kit kicking about anyway :D

Good job 👍 I wonder if that metal hinge rod comes as two half-length rods?
@RetroKrazy3 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment and for watching! It certainly could be sectional. I haven't looked into it any further yet as this was recorded in advance of me leaving for holiday. It's certainly a pain but if they got it in there, it has to come out!

Thank you for the vid. That is a damn lot of caps.I have a question and a comment. You have tweezers but you used hotair to remove the caps. Just curious why? My comment is handling that shielding, the oil on the fingers and hands will slowly over time corrode it. I bought an a500 once and you can see the finger prints left on the shielding well enough for it to go on a police record 🚓

Thanks for the question comment! So, regarding the tweezers, I find them awkward and to be honest, I thought the board was so clean that hotair would work better. Risky as I'm still learning to use the hotair to be brutally honest. I know what you mean about fingerprints on the shield and it's a very good point too. A lot of time I don't show that I use IPA to wash stuff down and yes, I occasionally forget so I'll try to remember to cover that in a futuer video to keep the record straight.

After removing the screw on the side of the lid, you can pull the metal rod to the left with a pair of pliers. Congratulations! You’ve got the last Amiga that Commodore ever produced, featuring a revision 4.1 and a revision C9 CD-ROM controller board. By the way, what kind of camera stand did you use?
@RetroKrazy7 сағат бұрын
Thanks for watching and for your knowledge! I couldn't see a safe way to remove it so wasn't willing to risk damaging the case, but will know better for next time. Didn't realise my version was also the last model they produced, so that is good to know, thank you :) As for the stand, I work off my dining room table (seriously) so I have a C-Stand for the main support, with a sand weight to help support the main arm that reaches over the table (cut down to hlf length). On the end of that I have a SmallRig 9.5" Magic Arm held on with a SmallRig Large Super Clamp. This is screwed into a UTEBIT 323 RC2 Quick Release Plate with Clamp for the camera. Hope this helps!
