Made me think of DI Mike Shephard of Brokenwood with the country music. Pretty fiddly job getting that fixed. You always amaze me. Thanks for sharing.

A trip down memory lane these radios were everywhere in the 90s. You might be able to repair the existing speaker since you will need to remove it anyway. Thanks Chris 😀

Thanks Dave, yeah I should have a go at the speaker I guess. An intermittent fault is going to be a broken fine wire I guess, but I'll probably destroy the paper cone getting into it!

Man I remember when Akai was a premium brand. My neighbours had an Akai hifi component system and as a 11 year old it was very impressive.

Back in the 60s & 70s Akai has some top level electronics gear - especially with reel to reel players I think!

Luckily it was in pretty good condition, and now looks like new now. Shame about the speaker not working, I've got some spares here, shame can't pass them to you. 👍

It did clean up pretty well. No worries with the speaker - one will turn up here pretty soon anyways! 👍

It funny when talking spraying the volume switch, Ur sound went a little crackly (16:45) lol. If it didn't work, I bet a local artist could made a interesting art work with it. Cheers Graham.

Yes Graham, I noticed that when editing! Just a fluke that the microphone rubbed on my shirt at exactly the right/wrong time! 🤣
