Math is in on the boxcars. Best for purchasing is tied between 30 foot wooden and 42 foot steel frame. Best in class for tons by foot is 41 foot ribbed, which can hold 1.28 tons per foot of train, which is especially helpful if you have small sidings, and need to run Measured out two factors: Cost per ton Ton per foot 35ft wooden: $20 per ton 0.86 tons per foot 42ft steel frame: $20 per ton 0.95 tons per foot 41ft steel: $21.11 per ton 1.02 tons per foot 41ft ribbed steel: $21.07 per ton 1.28 tons per foot 50ft steel: $20.91 per ton 1.1 ton per foot

I think that passenger rating works differently than you phrased. If you skip a previously serviced station, you'll get penalty, but if you don't visit that station for more than 10 days, the penalty is lifted.
