The scion hatchback all of them are like this. It's dangerous 😳....it will always need replacing. I almost ended up in the hospital last year. Fell on my head. Hurt so much I cried on the spot.

Thanks for the video. That back piece that is broken is a free fix at any dealership. You probably know that by now, 2 years later.

Just so you know, Toyota issued a recall for the rear lift gate handle. While I replaced mine before the recall, I used epoxy on the backside to reinforce the new lift gate handle and make it stronger. And thanks for the video! I'm going to order some new shocks and put them in.

Raflikesmovies - thanks for the recall info; Toyota has yet to contact me about this issue...

Thanks, thought I would have to pay a fortune to have this fixed at the dealer. The hatch weighs a ton and it came down on a friend's head the first time. It really is a safety issue, they should issue a recall so nobody is seriously injured. I had my rear lift gate handle replaced by Toyota after it came totally off the car. You can get yours fixed and not have to pay! Thanks for making the video!!

thank U SO much! i changed mine in about 10 mins w/ the help from your video! the auto body shop quoted the fee to be $300! i bought the replacements online from Wisconsin Auto Supply for about $25 - note: you may have to rotate the arms slightly in order to attach to the top I can now open the trunk w/ 1 hand! 🤗

Clean the area before installing new struts. Leaves and dirt hold a lot of moisture. Mix moisture with dirt and you have an abrasive. Also grease the knobs so struts have less resistance and longer life.
@fischman26-China3 жыл бұрын
Good video. One thing you might need to do is take off the bolts holding the struts to the fame because aftermarket strut clips are difficult to remove with a flat head screwdriver.

If you got a little over $100 to spend they make metal hatch handles that don't break. That's a very common issue with tC1

Anyone know if these shocks are adjustable pressure wise ?
@AdamSmith-fe9jf6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video. Just curious, the clips you remove in the beginning steps with the screwdriver, do the new struts have them already installed or do you need to save the removed ones to put on the new? Also, noticed with new struts the hatch goes up fast and bounces instead of slowing down at the top. Any way to adjust that or is that just how the struts operate? You think different vendors’ struts will be any different or they all open like that? Thanks, man.
@IAmShaniNicole2 жыл бұрын
Yes the new struts already have them installed all you have to do is snap them on
