We’re getting this barrel finished and honing the ID to size! This video is part 2 of a job to repair a big mining truck cylinder barrel. In this Part 2 we show step by step to complete the repair of this cylinder barrel. First we machine the face of the barrel head flange before machining the entire OD of the barrel down to size. Then we use our Sunnen HTA-4100 horizontal honing machine to hone the ID of the barrel to size before fitting and welding the barrel end on to complete the job.
MISSED PART 1?? Watch it here: • Repairing a BIG Mining...

In this video we are using:
- Hafco TM-26120G Centre Lathe
- Sunnen HTA-4100 Horizontal tube hone
- WIA 500i Weldmatic welder

It is easy to see how pleased your customers are with your work - since they come back time and time again to get their junk turned into a part that meets manufacturers specifications. That Sunnen machine is awesome!!! Obviously, Karen did a SUPER job capturing all of the varied steps in completing this unit to it's final, presentable stage!!! And, of course, THE SAFETY OFFICER keeping everything within view to ensure all went home without making the trip via the Medical Center. LOL Another fine job enjoyed by all of us!!! For lack of a better phrase, you basically put on a master class. Also, Karen - producing a 25-40 min video every week and keep it as good as you do, you are every bit as good if not better than the producers in Hollywood. In fact, I think you, Kurtis, and Homie ought to produce your own superhero franchise. There's no way that Superman, Batman, or Wonder Woman could do what you three do on a weekly basis. The butcherbirds make sure there are no spiders lurking up in the corners or in the roof beams. Its a big workshop and we never see Kurtis using the magnetic floor sweeper or the magnetic swarf collecting wand. Possibly, while the cutting tool gets from one end to the other of a 3 meter long barrel he does a quick cleanup with one ear cocked for any change in the sound of the tool. I guess he learned long ago that if you sweep up as you go the cleaning never gets on top of you.

I think the thing I love about this channel is that it's basically just a dude spending his entire day playing around with industrial LEGO, solving puzzles, and goofing off with his best friend / wife.

It's amazing to think that that one carbide cutting edge took off all of that steel from the OD. If it's 385 diameter and 1300 long that's almost 25 kg of steel with an insert that weighs a few grams. The magbase chip deflector is magic, too. We live in an age of marvels: Carbide and ceramic inserts, Kurtis and Karen

I see everything you do, and it's very hard work. You make it look easy, but it is not that easy in real life . You are very good at your job too. God bless you and your wife and the dog too. From old man cliff

Just found the channel recently, I have been watching all video's to catch-up on all terminology 🍌. Curtis is a amazing talented engineer, I would love to visit CEE one day when i am in Australia 🇦🇺 to learn some tips and tricks of using some of the milling equipment. I work in a totally different field as burner commissioning engineer, but coming from boiler fabrication I know what it takes to weld and fabricate like he does, respect 🙏 Greetings from a Staff lover 🐕

I hope you read this. With your level of skill you are doing the world a disservice by not showing an apprentice or two how to work. Just saying. I really enjoy your videos. Ellis Kinney in Kentucky.

I just noticed the clock on the left side of the screen during your final weld. An hour and 15 minutes hunched over that cylinder. This is definitely a young person’s profession.
