Any block that can come back after throwing all eight rods is an outstandingly well engineered piece. I doubt that any other block could stand that sort of abuse.

Definitely some crazy damage this thing endured.

All 8 rods disintegrated/shattered, if they had broke and poked around like most it would have been a lot more damage. That was good/bad luck all at the same time, sadly thats what happens sometimes when you use untested parts but bright side is the rods have been tested and everybody knows their limitations lol

“Why would I fix this block.” I’m guessing that billet is to the tune of >$4000! Pretty fortunate how superficial most of the damage was, considering the event. Any consideration to heat treatment, to get it back to T-6, after welding? I did see you annealed the pan rail to beat it back straight around #6. Line bore for insurance?

Much >> than $4k, probably in the $15k+ range

I think piston oil squirters could eliminate some of the damage even if you suffer a small rotational drag. I don't have my own engines though so maybe I'm way off. over revs might not cause as much damage as the expansion from dissimilar material like piston rings that are obviously harder than the block and give more expansion under heat .

Lots of interesting videos. Where do you find time to work?

We've been wondering the same thing, but he seems able to do it!

If that was a kieth black running nitro methane they would have repaired it the same way except they would have cut the section out of the webbing where it was knocked out in that one spot for cosmetic reasons but that’s about it.

5.99 Why don't you just mill the bottom 40mm off and put a replaceable bolted and doweled pan rail back in.

you build some of the best engines on the planet.people are retarded if they think that they can tell you that you're not doing it right. let's see what they got probably nothing at all. if I had a lot of money you would definitely be my engine builder but I build all my own engines cuz that's just how I am. and I love doing clearances and tolerances and checking my work and then putting it in a car and ripping a 7 second pass
