The pivot is 0.24mm, the pivot is bent or broken, the wheel cannot be replaced. The solution: Drill the old pivot out - fit a new one. But first we need a center drill guide or it will all go horribly wrong.

Awesome video! Now to go try this on my drill press for a really beat up ETA 7750 I got for $85 out of the bottom of someone's parts bucket. (All the pinions are broken off) Was sad to see it in such bad shape. But I think I can make it run. Thank you for all the videos you make! First comment on one but I've watched most of them over the last several months or so trying to learn things, and have you to also thank for getting me into this horology hobby after I watched one of your vids about the 2836 or other movement back then. Now I have an old metal tackle box I hosed out full of watch/movement repairing tools (the basic stuff) and spend half my free time learning what oils do what and searching around for even more tools lol.

Mark, This may actually solve a problem I have with a Escape wheel pivot. The movement has no markings other than a K so I am having issues finding a replacement. I am taking your watch repair course and I haven't serviced 1 movement as of yet, I did win several from eBay which should be here any day. I want to service all 5 before moving on to course 3. I've learned so much from your first two courses, and am very grateful you put so much time and effort into producing them.

At first i was puzzled . "How is he going to fix it , what is he doing ?" . I tried to understand . Then my penny started dropping and i went :" oh no , is that possible ? " . How can that be at that scale ? But apparently it is . Well , that is amazing . It is a good thing that such repairs can be done , many old beautiful watches can survive "through time" this way . Good job . Erwin , Belgium .

As ever, VERY interesting videos! Ever thought about induction heating? It would work only on steel, but is very localised, and easily achieved by a very small coil of copper wire , two or three turns wound around the pivot (loosely) and AC current applied. Common in the motor industry, (on a much larger scale). You would get the pivot hot, but not the brass wheel, as the induction does not work on brass. Softening the pivot may then allow straightening without breakage.
