Repairing a Crocheted Granny Square Blanket

Lindsey thank you so much for this video. I am 68 and my grandmother made me an afghan 40+ years ago and for several years I have wanted to repair it but never knew how nor felt confident to fix it. After watching your video I sat down today and repair all the holes. Now at 68 yrs of age I can still feel my gra dmothers love wrapped around me. Thank you. Love to you, blessings to you.

Is there any possible way to fix the blanket without the similar yarn colour because I cannot for the life of me, find the colour or anything close, it’s a super old cream orange and it’s obviously been diluted in colour and has some browning I hand washed it and it didn’t bring out the brown, so that’s not the issue but I can’t find any colour even slightly close

You don't have to use the same color, but the "patch" will be more obvious.

I have a shell stitch that unraveled in the middle and am not sure how to fix it. Any advise is greatly appreciated.

Curious why one would not replace the entire square. Would that not be easier?

I generally aim to keep as much of the original piece as possible.

You want to keep the original work, as it is sentimental, plus not all granny squares are small, that could involve you frogging 1/6th of an entire quilt. If I wanted a new quilt I would make a new quilt, I want my grandmother's quilt, therefore, instead of frogging a 1.5 ft by 1.5ft square and ruining her work I just repair the hole.
