@@TheCod3r I'm bad about collecting many hours of video from a handful of cameras and creating an editing nightmare for myself. I'm trying really hard to learn how to record smarter though. The thought of streaming is floating around too. I think I'm finally reaching a point in my life where I may not turn into a bumbling idiot with people watching live. lol

Thanks :) I have a video in the works that’s taking me longer than expected to finish. Should be up in a few more days! It has a lot lot of jumpers…. Sadly, if I had known how easy it was to swap A10 CPUs, the repair would have never happened. Well, not really sad… it’s exciting. 😀

Thank u! Congrats on your channel growth! A lot of hard work you’re putting in. Soon I‘m gonna work on my first switch. My son brought me one asking why the display flex wouldn’t plug in all the way. He was trying to help a friend swap boards for data and botched it. It has pins folded under into the connector and will need a new connector.

Hey Jason! Nice to see your video after a long time. One suggestion, those android boards, especially Samsung's, have the mic soldered onto them. Those things are notoriously sensitive to heat, flux and alcohol. Cheers. Also, with things like fpc connectors, try using the stations which have the blower fans in the handles. If you see the end of these, they have a kind of a fin structure that makes the air swirl instead of coming out straight. I have found that they don't burn the plastic parts as much.
@ststele

Thank you! When I first started microsoldering I got surprised by a couple of microphones and barometric pressure sensors. The Galaxy S3 was a classic lesson... "Hello, you repaired my charge port but now nobody can hear me talking".. lol :-) Thankfully this Stylo has the lower mic on a flex cable and I didn't see any other sensory.

Excellent job! Is it preference not to heat from the other side of the board? I always find myself melting plastic if I use directly on a connector 😂 (Maybe due to the quality of my hot air station, at least that's what I tell myself 😎)
@ststele
@ststele 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks. If it’s realllly sensitive plastic on a connector and I’m not worried about something else getting burned, then I’d heat from bottom. This style of connector can take quite a bit of heat before getting burnt tho. It was really weird finding out the solder could melt before the plastic?!! 😮

I just changed charging port.. it works great now. My new issue is the screen will only sometimes load, never while booting up tho. And when the screen is working the touch screen won't work. Could the heat gun have done anything to screen? Even tho it was used on back side of phone case. I've done most black screen fixes and can regularly get screen on again but during soft reset or any start up the screen never shows initial start up lg logo. Only after a bit will screen start kinda working again

You're also going to get a lot more repairs because of Apple's iPhone boobytrap, ie, a hard to remove glued down screen, and components right on the edge so that spudgers in the wrong place snap them off, ie, I don't see a newbie even able to open it without more damage. 🙂
@ststele
@ststele 2 жыл бұрын
Mmmmhmmm... The 12 series is a lot more difficult to open than any other model. My first 12 Pro Max had me sweating bullets because the screen was not broken and I sure didn't want to break it! They're not as stressful for me to open now that I'm used to it but a good percentage of people are going to break things. Most of them should only be further breaking the screens but will surely be smashing connectors and stabbing batteries! :D

What makes ground pads so much harder to solder?
@ststele
@ststele 2 жыл бұрын
Thermal dynamics I think is the correct term? Ground pads transfer a ton of heat to the board and dissipates quickly. They need more heat to solder.
