Hello!
Welcome back to our latest update on repairing our #damp, 1997 #Elddis Knightsbridge #caravan.
In this episode, Jamie and Stacey feel the grind, as they miss their November 9th deadline for completing the project and become a little disillusioned at how long some aspects of the project are taking. However, together, they affix the plywood lining to the interior of the front windows and Jamie begins to sort out the spaghetti network of electric cabling as he relocates it to the front hatch. Later, they take a trip to Bevan Caravan & Camping Supplies in Llangefni to pick up some rolls of mastic for reinstalling the awning and window rails. The project is getting nearer to completion every day!
__________________________________________________________________________
In this episode, we featured the caravan shop, Bevan's, in Llangefni. We were not paid for featuring them - we did so as a thank you to them, as every time we have been to them, we have received friendly, helpful service and advice. They almost always have the parts we have needed, when we needed them, or were able to get them to us promptly. We're hugely protective over who and what we feature on our channel, and wouldn't feature any business or product that we didn't firmly believe in. However, we have no reservations in recommending Bevan's if you're holidaying on Anglesey in your caravan and need supplies. If you do pop in, let them know that you saw them on our channel :)

Who are we?
We’re Jamie & Stacey McNeill, two, 30-something professionals, who’d had enough of the rat race in summer 2018, when we quit our jobs and sold our house, in order to live full time in a touring caravan in Wales.
Our channel shows our journey living this way, the highs, the lows and everything else in between. We also use our platform to advocate to others, the benefits of living a lower stress, more balanced lifestyle.
We have built our KZbin reputation to date on honesty and integrity - you won’t find us using ‘click bait’ titles or nudity to draw in ‘cheap views’. We’re here for the long-term to show that this way of living can be a lifelong change for you as well as us.
If you’d like to make contact with us, we’d be delighted to chat with you. We read and respond to every video comment, so feel free to raise a question or anything else that’s on your mind.
Best wishes,
Jamie & Stacey

Very true! I've got one more ceiling panel to remove, but will be doing that today, as carefully as possible. However, the same panel 'should' be going back up!

Great progress! I’ve been willing you to get that front ply panel in, it’s a real landmark event in your van’s return back to life. In other news, my flirtation with Fray Bentos wasn’t great, you need a special type of tin opener, and after much swearing I finally got it in the oven, nice pastry, not so nice filling, I’m sticking with Pie Minister even if they are three times the price! But, as with your project, nothing ventured ... :-)
@TheMcNeillsonWheels
@TheMcNeillsonWheels 3 жыл бұрын
Ha ha! Brilliant! Yes, Fray Bentos are not the finest pies in the world, and you're dead right - the fillings can be hit or miss. As an emergency standby, they're great, but they're definitely not 'haute cuisine'!!! The ply going in the front was definitely a fine moment for us also. Feels like a caravan again! Glad you're sticking with us! Jamie

Very nice work, love the solution to move your electrics all into the front which makes them easily accessable.. As it's your house it's way more likely you change something, then when it's your holiday van... Only hope is, you never have to be in there when it pours outside 🤔

Quick Q: have the front nose grab handles been fixed to anything of substance? Seem to think from my 95 van they were affixed to the front bulkhead and shelf? Just there’s a risk of them being used as intended - grab handles - and risking them damaging the front grp? Keep it up both! Really great viewing. Pies and all.
@TheMcNeillsonWheels
@TheMcNeillsonWheels 3 жыл бұрын
You're absolutely right. The handles were never that clever before as the bulkhead wasn't fixed to anything that wasn't rotten. Post-build, we'll probably not use them for their intended purpose, as they won't be fixed to anything substantial. The framework on the front end has really stiffened things up though, so they could probably take some usage. Probably best avoided though! Thanks for watching! It's always great to hear your input and ideas! Thanks Jamie

Ha ha! Yea, that'd be soul destroying. I'm going to order J Rail to create guttering above the windows as well as other key locations, such as above the hatch to help. I don't think that the hatch leaked before, it was more through the leak in the window rail and other places. Thanks for watching!

Hello! Do you mean these: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CARAVAN-MOTORHOME-BOAT-WINDOW-PLASTIC-UNDER-RUBBER-CORNER-INSERTS-/274375029846?var=0&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&campid=5338268676&toolid=10044&customid=Cj0KCQiA-OeBBhDiARIsADyBcE7KTFWyjHoliDP2YSe_A2rWbXScwmGCs6ZgjCCCaYa8_r_PxCP1iQ4aArBzEALw_wcB As they're quite expensive for what they are, could you not try fashioning some of out of some scrap material? Their purpose is to support the rubber window seal so that it doesn't form too sharp an angle. Best of luck! Jamie

You have made the front locker a bit small, may I ask where you are putting the Gas bottles ?
@TheMcNeillsonWheels
@TheMcNeillsonWheels 3 жыл бұрын
Hello Again, We've never stored our gas cylinder in the front locker as it's too large to fit. There's no point in us using the small bottles as, being full timers, we'd be back and forth to the gas merchants far too often. If we ever go touring, the gas bottle and spare wheel will be in the back of the towing vehicle.
