As an employee at Staples (same thing different store) I can say ive done this same practice. People toss the most asinine things in the bin, ive saved whole laptops to cellphones and tablets to parts stripped from office PCs from being ewaste trash and have even personally resold ewasted tech as a side hustle myself. Its bizarre what people call junk these days.

I have lived my whole life repairing others throwaways, bicycles, cars, TV's( I just had a Pioneer Elite Kuro 50" Plasma TV given to me! ) computers etc. I like learning about everything and after working on, and deconstructing, all these seemingly random items you really get a sense of similarity (especially the common failures of regulated power supplies) and evolution of many items mechanically to circuit design. I have documented some of it on my own channel but it is pretty rudimentary compared to the amazing work done here, Thank you again for your production value and thoroughness! Cheers!

Hey Hugh! B7000 isn't a normal adhesive. You have to put adhesive on both surfaces (screen and frame) and wait from 5 to 10 minutes before placing the screen back on the frame. This type of adhesive is called contact adhesive. I really recommend. it's a good, and cheap adhesive when you don't have the precut ones. Only note, if the adhesive has a greenish tint, don't use it!

5:35 for glue T-7000, B-7000, E-7000 hold the display correctly you have to apply it on both sides, display and case, wait around 3 minutes for the glue to dry a little and then join the display with the frame, only like this glue secures the display, glue on one side and immediately gluing the display the glue is still liquid and does not work properly.

Hi Hugh! I was just wondering what do you do with all these repaired phones? Do you resell them?

Love the fact that the 3a has a plastic back! I am going to switch to a phone without glass on the back. I managed to break it when it was in a case 😂. Hate those trends, although it isn't that expensive to fix, it is still annoying

Yeah, Apple just doesn't want their costumers to be able to repair anything any more, the just lock everything to the pcb nowadays so you need to buy a new phone as soon as possible.

I’m still amazed at how many people break screens. I’ve used smart phones since 2008 and have never had a screen break and I take zero precautions aside a slip on case.

This liquid adhesive works not that way. You should apply it to the frame, then wait for 5-10 minutes for it to dry and after that press the display into it. When the frame and display are collapsed, you should compress it using some rubber bands or clippers and wait for 3-12 hours. In Russian repair services we're using this glue all the time. If you follow the instructions, glue works perfectly, just like factory adhesive)

While drying applied without display attached this glue becomes like a sticky tape.
@taylor4853
@taylor4853 3 жыл бұрын
You have to wait for the dissolvant present in the glue to evaporate before trying to glue the display in place, 5 minutes should be enough Shoving the screen as soon as the glue is applied prevents it from curing properly and the display or any other thing you're gluing will come loose Also you should apply it on the phone body and screen so it sticks even stronger

I've owned one of these since they launched and I swear to god that I was cleaning it earlier and wondering if I could put a little IPA on a toothbrush and run it in the speakers since they get dirty so easily. Answers that question lol

The E7000 and B7000 are actually rather old glue groups. TipTop is the most well known glue of this group. What you need to know about them is that these need at least 12hrs to set and 24 to 48 for complete cure. These are acetone-base, so not that toxic actually.
@JuakoRanger
@JuakoRanger 3 жыл бұрын
So, here we use E8000 and F7000, you need to use rubber bands and apply pressure for 2 days, it keeps everything watertight and its fairly easy to open if you messed up something or something goes wrong

When every you use those liquid adhesive, make practice to keep them in place with rubber bands, Like this pixel phone, after applying that adhesive apply some rubber bands to keep the display stick with the frame
