Don't use a compression shower drain, use a glue style. One don't have to worry about leakage.

The reason the sure fit failed to begin with was the trap was not supported properly. You can see in the video that he supports the trap with p-tape . Thats not the style of sure fit that I would use , but it is an acceptable material for this type of installation. Plumbing 44 years

The enclosure wasn't supported either (and still wasn't after this "plumber" left). Maybe spray foam under there, maybe nothing. Hacks fixing the previous hacks' work. That's what construction is these days.

Mine was originally installed with spray foam. I wish I could find that plumber! This one might not have had anything. Way too many "contractors" shortcutting consumers to get off the job asap. They don't charge any less for doing half the job, though, do they!

This is actually how these drains are sealed to all the non believers been plumbing for 40+ years master plumber. Sterling, floor stone and many other brands feature this rubber gasket that usually have to use a flat head screwdriver and a hammer to fit down into shower base. The ones with the metal bracket that the plastic compression onto pipe are usually the worst and this is not one of those. Nice job Conservative plumber don’t believe these wannabe internet plumbers that have seen 2 shower drains so they are suddenly experts. Worked on thousands in my life

Yes, I had this happen. A rubber bushing with a compression ring was missing. A lot of water under the house. Easy repair.

So not a plumber but used to do service work regularly. There is a plastic screw collar that compresses that gasket to make the seal, and it is tightened with a flat sheet metal part you put a screwdriver in to tighten. Also the shower floor moving tells me that there is either rot, compression of the foam base or an improprly installed pan on an unlevel/flat surface and that will eventually work itself loose again. A shower floor should have no movement!

If you are going to use a compression style drain you main want your compression ring so you can compress that gasket you just put around the drain.

Those types of shower drains are meant for showers in a basement with a concrete floor where you can’t work from underneath, that install should be a glued shower drain with a hanger 👍 but I guess no one wanted to go in the crawl space to glue it haha

That gasket went in way too easy. I struggled way harder than that last time I did a gasket like that. I think this type of shower pan that requires that gasket is stupid. It's designed to fail it seems. And where can you even get those gaskets if you need to replace them. I never see them being sold.
