That was a really good phone from xiaomi. Too bad they discontinued this series after A3 bcz they couldn't get enough profit by making stock androids and trying to kill all the existing ones.
@troy55683 жыл бұрын
It's because of how terrible they handled Android One devices. This A1 is literally the only completely fine model from their Android One lineup. The A2 had worse camera system and dropped the headphone jack, which was actually quite good on the A1. Then the A3 is surely the worst out of the bunch, with Android 11 update literally bricking the phone and rendering it unusable. It really seems as if ever new generation is actually worse than the predecessor. On top of that, their supposed purpose of being Android One devices, which is very fast and stable software updates that's just second to Google's Pixels, is not delivered at all. Heck, even Sony's non-Android One mid range devices during that time were updated much quicker still, which begs the validity of the Mi A series as Android One devices when they don't even comply to the bare minimum standards of Android One program. Nokia just did Android One devices much better overall.

I replaced dozens of those screens. The repair was very straightforward, since after removing the 2 screws, you can remove the backcover with fingers. Even though i bought many different screens already glued with the frame (which makes the repair a breeze), none were really original and the colors were always washed out. Not that the original screen was super quality, but still. I've had Xiaomis since 2016 and they were really easy to repair, but getting the parts from aliexpress was a waiting game and quite unreliable just like you pointed out. By far, I've bought three phones off this platform, two new and one refurbished. The ref phone was in "like new" condition, while costing less than a used one off Ebay or Facebook marketplace. Buying parts based on the item listing alone is a terrible idea on these online marketplaces, you need to look for reputable seller/shops and browse their parts. Original parts that isn't new old stock for a old phone like the A1 is hard to come by, and it doesn't help that Xiaomi doesn't seem to provide original parts easily.
@jingarjay87543 жыл бұрын
Some cheap seller put keywords like Premium and Original just to lure some buyers in, only to realize the parts they received was bad quality. Parts for Chinese phones that you can buy are probably 80% fake/remanufactured most of the time. And remanufactured parts vary in quality a lot, some batteries are actually remanufactured by the original OEM, you just need to look at user review pictures to confirm it. I haven't seen a display replacement that is made by the original OEM that's being sold, but there are always some good sellers that actually source parts from original OEMs, you just need to look for them.

But with parts circling around are mostly fake with questionable quality being sold as 'original', I would better off buying used phone and have it running till it breaks down, hopefully in a year or two, which is why I'm now running used XZ1 with white spots on the screen and lower capacity battery, otherwise still perfectly functional.

I just checked 4Xs, locally (Serbia) they're sold for like $40 for a wonky one but with a good, original screen, and a good working one for $60. That's just a tiny bit more than what replacement screens of unknown origin are going for.
@Indrakusuma_a3 жыл бұрын
@ That was what I was going for my 4X, but couldn't find any donor candidate with justified pricing. So I ended up going for screen replacement only which proved to be a bad decision. It costed me about US$ 34.5(screen, battery, and power/volume flexible cable, all highly questionable quality). As for Z3 Compact, it was once having temperature and random reboot issues, although it seems to be working fine now. Hence I went for a used XZ1 which I got for about US$ 50(I'm in Indonesia btw). It's the biggest phone I've ever had and obviously not comfortable to use. I'm still tempted for XZ1 Compact but it's really hard to find a good one.

I have personally had reasonable experencr from Ali Express but have only ordered a select few After reading huge numbers of comments. Two keyone screens perfect to original. Same for some internal components worked fine. One xiomi screen was not great colours but was advertised as lower quality LCD. Other aftermakret looked very close to oem. Xiaomi is odd as a company. Selling from premium flag ships, high spec budgets and visual clones.

This is why you always go for genuine, good quality parts, rather than some random parts from AliExpress. But hey, the phone now works nicely.

I have done screen replacements for Xiaomi phones with amoled screens from Aliexpress and all without problems. Good replacement displays are not cheap I found out. But indeed it can be a gamble.

Android One phones were so dope till they just disappeared. And its bizarre to see a Xiaomi with pentalobe screws! I've had a Mi A2 which felt like a Nexus 5X without a headphone jack but had smooth performance. As for this repair, damn the inside feels disorganized with melting the plastic tabs.

Two years ago Xiaomis display from Aliexpress were as good as the original one but now that´s not the case and now most of them are yellow screen with a noticeable touch latency. This is why i want to buy something to change only the touch in order to keep an original display with a decent image quality.

I ordered two different Displays on AliExpress, both arrived in 2 Weeks and the quality was good, as well as the price.

I had a very similar experience replacing the screen on an inexpensive Huawei phone using a part from AliExpress. Super dim and washed out barely usable, it is now just a jukebox with my music collection on an SD card in my car. Though it is hard to see in daylight.

@@immanuelhermon You just need to use your eyeballs. The screen he got had no chance of being original and that was clear from the listing. There are original screens, they are just more expensive. The deal about aliexpress is that you need a IQ above zero to order on it.

Too harsh on AliExpress imo. For many people it's the only channel to get spare parts because they are impossible to find locally. Yes you get a turd once in a while but in my experience that doesn't happen very often.

I usually buy my spare/repairs parts on Aliexpress since its easier and cheaper than local ones, since they are buying in bulks from these same sellers. I highly recommend Aliexpress if you are not from USA/ Europe countries. For these, you should find maybe better sellers but I highly doubt you would get these same parts on ebay that it would be shipping from China as well.

This is not an AliExpress problem, it's a buyer problem. If you buy something cheap then don't expect it to be good in quality regardless of what the description says. so it doesn't doesn't matter if it's sold in AliExpress, eBay, or Amazon.
@RoxGYT3 жыл бұрын
AliExpress is not the chinese equivalent of eBay, not at all. It would be more similar to Amazon.
